norcold class action settlement

Norcold Inc. has agreed to pay $36 million and offer an extended warranty to settle a class action lawsuit stemming over allegations that its refrigerators contain a safety-related defect.

Plaintiffs claim that Norcold gas absorption refrigerators, typically installed in RVs and boats, have a cooling unit issue which may cause the boiler tubes to corrode and leak flammable gas which could increase the risk of a fire.

Claims for personal injury or wrongful death are not covered under this class action settlement.

The Norcold class action lawsuit alleged the manufacturer is liable for breach of state consumer protection laws as well as breach of express and implied warranties.

Norcold denies all wrongdoings but agreed to the settlement to avoid the risk and cost of further litigation.

Refrigerators covered under the class action settlement include Norcold 1200 Series, N8 Series and N6 Series Gas Absorption Refrigerators, a full list can be found here.

  1. Doug Barton says:

We have a refrigerator on recall. Had major accident in Monaco Camelot. Camping world Tulsa had it for months to perform over $71,000 of repairs. Not once did they tell us about recall, even though they were designated repair company. Now unit is leaking ammonia. The ammonia fumes have caused wife to be hospitalized. Norcold s attitude is so sorry. Now the original fix is deemed defective. I want norcold to fix replace and include camping world as a national change huge they must have some exposure especially since they knew of defective. Granted warranty repairs don’t pay same as regular repairs.

Have not received a check for 2019 or 2020. Just wondering if I would still receive for both years. Can’t get in touch with a real person to find out what steps need to be taken. If anyone out there has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
