VRURC recalled about 190,000 portable chargers after one caught fire during a commercial flight.

The U.S.Consumer Product Safety Commission website published the recall July 6. It applies to VRURC portable chargers with model number OD-B7 that have built-in cables and wall plugs.

According to the recall, the portable chargers can ignite, posing a fire hazard.

VRURC received one report of fire during a commercial flight, which resulted in four flight attendants being transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, the portable charger recall says.

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Immediately stop using chargers, VRURC recall states

VRURC sold the recalled chargers exclusively on amazon.com from July 2021 to May 2023 for between $30 and $40.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable chargers and contact VRURC for a free replacement product, the recall notice says.

The chargers’ model number is printed on the back of the recalled chargers, which were sold in black, blue, green, orange, pink, red and white color options.

Portable chargers have also been the subject of a class action. In February, a consumer hit Energizer Brands with a class action lawsuit alleging its Energizer Mac Power Bank portable charger delivers 25% less charge than promised.
