Trader Joe’s issued a recall for one of its specialty scented candle products, saying it can overheat and break, posing a risk to consumers and their homes.

The grocery giant issued the recall on its website June 6 for its tomato-leaf-scented candle.

According to the notice, the candle — Tomato Leaf Scented Candle (SKU No. 75090) — can crack or break during use due to the glass jar overheating, causing potential injury or property damage.

Trader Joe’s warns customers who may own the candle to keep it unlit.

“If you purchased the Tomato Leaf Scented Candle, please do not use it,” the notice says.

Trader Joe’s offers full refund for candle, recall notice says

The recall did not state whether there had been any reports of injuries or property damage due to the candle overheating and breaking so far.

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

“We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund,” the recall notice says. Trader Joe’s did not mention any other candle variety that may be included in the recall.

In other Trader Joe’s news, Bakkavor USA recently issued an allergy alert for tubs of Trader Joe’s pesto that were falsely placed in tubs labeled for hummus dip.

In 2017, Trader Joe’s faced a class action lawsuit alleging it underfilled its tuna cans by 9 to 24% under what is required by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
