Honda lawnmower, pressure washer engines recalled due to defective camshafts

American Honda Motor issued a recall affecting approximately 391,800 Honda lawnmowers and pressure washer engines due to a significant safety concern involving defective camshafts within their engines. The defect can lead to an unexpected and sudden retraction of the starter rope when pulled, posing potential hazards to users, the recall notice states.

This recall follows 2,197 reported incidents of camshaft failures and seven minor injuries linked to the issue, as reported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Sep. 14.

Consumers who own the recalled Honda lawnmowers and pressure washer engines should stop using them immediately and contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer, the recall notice says. Honda will arrange a free repair and inspection to address the issue, ensuring safety for users.
