Eagle Produce recalls cantaloupes due to potential salmonella contamination

Eagle Produce issued a recall of 6,456 cases of whole cantaloupes following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)โ€™s discovery of salmonella during routine testing.ย

The company distributed to supermarkets in 20 states, including California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington D.C.ย

To identify the affected product, consumers should look for cantaloupes with a UPC of 4050 and lot nos. 797901, 797900 and 804918, as indicated in the recall notice.

The recall advises consumers to immediately dispose of the recalled cantaloupe due to the potential risk of salmonella contamination, which poses the highest risk to young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems and can lead to severe or even fatal infections, the recall notice states.

Hyundai, Kia recall 3M vehicles due to fire hazard

Hyundai Motor America and Kia America issued a sweeping recall encompassing more than 3 million vehicles combined due to concerns of a potential engine compartment fire hazard.ย

The Kia recall impacts a broad range of models, totaling more than 1.7 million vehicles, including the Borrego, Cadenza, Forte, Forte Koup, K900, Optima, Optima Hybrid, Rio, Sorento, Soul, Sportage and Rondo.ย

Kia initiated the recall due to the possibility of a short circuit occurring in the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit area, leading to an excessive current flow and an elevated risk of an engine compartment fire, according to the recall notice.ย

As a precautionary measure, owners should park their affected Kia vehicles outside and away from structures until the necessary remedy is conducted.

Hyundaiโ€™s recall affects more than 1.6 million vehicles, including various models such as the Accent, Azera, Elantra, Elantra Coupe, Equus, Genesis Coupe, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Sport, Tucson, Tucson Fuel Cell, Sonata Hybrid, Veloster and Veracruz.ย

This recall centers on the Anti-Lock Brake System modules in these vehicles, which could experience internal brake fluid leakage, ultimately resulting in an electrical short circuit and a heightened risk of an engine compartment fire. Hyundai will inform vehicle owners and dealers alike of the recall by Nov. 21, 2023.

Toyota recalls 2023 Tundra vehicles due to incorrect labeling

Toyota issued a recall for 21,781 model year 2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles due to concerns related to incorrect load carrying capacity modification labels.ย

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently published this recall, citing an error in calculating the weight of the spray-on bed liner accessory.ย

Toyotaโ€™s recall notice explains that due to system errors, the weight of the accessory was inaccurately specified, indicating a lower added weight than the actual total weight of the installed accessories. As a precautionary measure, Toyota included vehicles in the recall that may not necessarily require a load carrying capacity modification label, as it says it wants to address any potential weight-related issues that may have arisen after the initial sale of the vehicles.ย

Toyotoa will notify affected vehicle owners to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer for an updated load carrying capacity modification label. This repair will be provided at no cost to vehicle owners as part of the Toyota New Vehicle Limited Warranty.ย

VistaPharm sucralfate oral suspension recalled due to bacterial contamination

VistaPharm LLC issued a recall for one lot of its sucralfate oral suspension medication due to concerns of bacillus cereus contamination. Sucralfate is utilized as an antiulcer therapeutic. The recall pertains to medication packaged in a 16-ounce (414-milliliter) PET Bottle, specifically identified with National Drug Code 66689-305-16. The affected lot no. is 810300 with an expiration date of Oct. 31, 2023.ย

VistaPharm distributed the impacted sucralfate lot across the nation through three different distributors. Although the company has not received any reports of related illnesses, the presence of bacillus cereus contamination poses potential health risks, especially to immunocompromised individuals, potentially leading to infections such as endocarditis and necrotizing soft tissue infections.ย

Life Raft Treats recalls ice cream products due to potential listeria contamination

Life Raft Treats expanded its recall of Not Fried Chicken and Life is Peachy ice cream products due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.ย

The updated recall now encompasses products with best-buy dates up to and including Aug. 28, 2024, as indicated in the recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Sept. 22. The affected items include Life Raft Treatsโ€™ Life is Peachy ice cream available in a six-count box, Not Fried Chicken ice cream sold in a 64-ounce bucket and Not Fried Chicken ice cream offered as a 2.5-ounce bar.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control alerted Life Raft Treats on Sept. 18 about the need to include an additional lot of Not Fried Chicken ice cream in the recall after it tested positive for listeria monocytogenes.ย

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers who have purchased the affected Life Raft Treats ice cream products are advised not to consume them and should instead return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.
