Yogi tea bags recall issued due to pesticide contamination

East West Tea Co. issued a recall for nearly 55,000 packs of Yogi-branded tea bags due to pesticide contamination.

The recall affects 54,846 packs of Organic Yogi Echinacea Immune Support, Caffeine Herbal Supplement tea products with various lot codes distributed nationwide. East West Tea Co. initiated the recall after it detected pesticide residues exceeding FDA action levels, according to the recall notice.

The recall includes more than 877,000 individual tea bags, with each pack containing 16 tea bags and each box containing four or six packs. In a statement to Top Class Actions, Yogi emphasized that while the detected pesticide traces posed no health risk, they did not align with the company’s quality standards.

The company also says it engaged new partners to enhance testing capabilities and is working with the FDA and retail partners to remove affected products from store shelves, according to the statement. Consumers can return the recalled tea for a full refund.

Honda Ridgeline recall impacts 180K+ vehicles

Honda is recalling 187,290 of its 2020-2024 Ridgeline pickup trucks due to an issue with the electric wiring for the vehicles’ rearview cameras.

The recall addresses a problem with the camera wiring harness, which can allow freezing water and salt to enter the woven twisted tube, potentially causing cracks and wire breakage, the recall notice states. This defect can result in the camera failing to display an image, impacting the driver’s rearview visibility and increasing the risk of collision or injury while reversing.

Honda has not reported any injuries related to this issue so far. To resolve the problem, the automaker will replace the wiring harness with a sturdier version, according to the recall notice.

Customers who have already paid for repairs are eligible for reimbursement. Dealers have been informed of the recall, and vehicle owners will be notified starting July 1. For further assistance, owners can contact Honda service at 888-234-2138.

Walmart Great Value organic black chia seeds recall announced due to potential salmonella

Natural Sourcing International recalled one lot of its 32-ounce Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds sold at Walmart stores due to potential salmonella contamination.

The affected products have a lot code of 24095 C018, an expiration date of Oct. 30, 2026, and a UPC of 078742300665, according to the recall notice. Consumers can identify the recalled chia seeds by the main label on the pouch and the lot number printed on the bottom of the package’s back panel.

Salmonella bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems, the recall notice states. Symptoms in healthy individuals may include fever, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, salmonella can enter the bloodstream and cause severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

Natural Sourcing International has not received any reports of illness related to this recall and is not currently facing legal action. Consumers should discard the chia seeds and contact the company for a replacement by calling customer service at 818-405-9705 or emailing customerservice@organically-simple.com.

Insulin pump app recall announced following 220+ injuries

Tandem Diabetes Care recalled its t:connect Apple iOS mobile app used with the t:slim X2 insulin pump due to issues causing the app to crash, which can lead to battery depletion and under-delivery of insulin.

This malfunction has resulted in 224 reported injuries, with affected individuals potentially developing hyperglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition caused by high blood sugar and insufficient insulin levels, the recall notice says.

The recall affects version 2.7 of the iOS app, released Feb. 12. On March 26, Tandem Diabetes Care issued an Urgent Medical Device Correction, advising customers to update the app to version 2.7.1 or later. After updating, users should complete an online form to confirm the update, closely monitor the pump’s battery level and ensure the pump is fully charged before sleeping, according to the recall notice.

There have been no reports of death related to this issue. Customers can contact the Tandem Diabetes Care Technical Support Team at 877-801-6901.

Ford Maverick recall issued for 242K+ vehicles over faulty tail lights

Ford Motor Company recalled 242,669 Ford Maverick pickup trucks due to concerns that their rear taillights may fail to illuminate. This recall affects model years 2022-2024, specifically vehicles produced between Feb. 3, 2021, and March 21, 2024.

The issue stems from a body control module that might incorrectly detect a current overload in the rear position lamp circuits, potentially causing one or both taillights to deactivate during a drive cycle, the recall notice says. The recall highlights the risk of reduced visibility for other drivers in dark conditions, increasing the likelihood of a collision.

Ford will notify affected vehicle owners by mail, advising them to visit a Ford or Lincoln dealer for a free BCM calibration update, according to the recall notice. The automaker says it expects to mail notification letters May 20-May 24.
