Food Lion, Kroger, Signature Select vegetables recalled due to potential listeria contamination

Twin City Foods issued a recall of frozen corn and mixed vegetable products under the Food Lion, Kroger and Signature Select brands due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall Aug. 22. It encompasses 22 different frozen super sweet corn and mixed vegetable products.

Listeria exposure can lead to severe and sometimes life-threatening infections, particularly in vulnerable consumers such as young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems, the recall notice states.

Twin City Foods initiated the recall after a third-party lab test detected the presence of listeria in the sweet cut corn. Twin City Foods strongly advises anyone who has purchased the recalled items not to consume them and instead return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Dr. Berne’s eye drops recalled due to fungal, bacterial contamination

Dr. Berne’s Whole Health Products initiated a voluntary recall for all batches of its MSM Drops and Solution Eye Drops due to concerns about potential contamination with bacteria and fungus.

The nationwide recall includes several product variants, including Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops 5%, Dr. Berne’s 15% Solution Eye Drops, Dr. Berne’s Organic Castor Oil Eye Drops and Dr. Berne’s MSM Mist 15% Solution, according to the Aug. 26 recall notice.

Using the contaminated eye drops could lead to vision-threatening infections, with the possibility of these infections progressing to life-threatening conditions, the recall notice states.

Dr. Berne’s received two reports of adverse events associated with the recalled products. It advises consumers, distributors and retailers to discontinue their use immediately and return the products to Sun Star Organics, 988 Main St., Orange, CA 92867. Concerned individuals can also reach out to Dr. Berne’s directly via phone at 877-239-3777.

Nissan recalls Sentra vehicles due to potential loss of steering

Nissan announced a recall affecting specific 2020-2022 Sentra vehicles due to potential issues with their tie rods, which could lead to a loss of steering control. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website published the recall Aug. 15.

According to the recall notice, the tie rods, which are responsible for connecting the steering gear to the wheel, may bend, creating a breakage risk that could result in loss of steering control.

As an initial solution, dealers will conduct inspections and replace any bent or broken tie rods at no cost, according to the recall notice. Once updated and improved parts are available, dealers will replace both tie rods to ensure long-term safety.

Chrysler recalls Jeeps due to rearview camera issue

Chrysler issued a recall affecting over 160,000 Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer and Cherokee vehicles due to a potential rearview camera malfunction that may fail to display an image when the driver places the vehicle in reverse.

The NHTSA website published the recall Aug. 14. It applies to 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles.

According to the recall notice, the issue lies in the central vision park assist module (CVPAM) software, which can prevent the rearview image from appearing when the driver shifts into reverse. This malfunction poses a risk to driver safety as it reduces rearview visibility, potentially increasing the likelihood of accidents or injuries. As a result, affected vehicles do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111.

To address this safety concern, dealerships will perform a complimentary update to replace the problematic CVPAM software, the recall notice states. Chrysler anticipates sending owner notification letters starting Oct. 3, 2023.

Trader Joe’s recalls multigrain crackers due to potential metal contamination

Trader Joe’s initiated a recall of its Trader Joe’s Multigrain Crackers with Sunflower and Flax Seeds due to potential metal contamination. The recall specifically pertains to the 10-ounce boxes of these crackers, identified by SKU 76156 and bearing best-by dates between March 1 to 3, 2024.

The decision to recall these products was prompted by Trader Joe’s supplier, who alerted the retailer about the potential metal contamination. In response, Trader Joe’s promptly removed all potentially affected crackers from its stores.

Trader Joe’s has not received any reports of injuries related to this recall. It strongly advises customers who possess the recalled product to either discard it or return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
