Nissan recalls LEAF vehicles due to unexpected acceleration Nissan issued a product recall for more than 66,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles due to an issue related to unexpected acceleration. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website published the recall notice July 17, and it affects LEAF vehicles manufactured between 2018 and 2023. The concern involves the possibility of unintended acceleration if the driver changes the driving mode after disengaging the cruise control. This could lead to the vehicle continuing to accelerate without brake intervention or failing to slow down as expected when releasing the accelerator pedal, thereby potentially increasing the risk of accidents. Nissan dealers will reprogram the vehicles free of charge for the affected owners. The automaker will send owner notification letters Aug. 30, 2023. Toyota recalls multiple vehicle models due to airbag defect Toyota issued a product recall for more than 110,000 vehicles, including Corolla, Highlander, Tacoma and Lexus models, due to a potential issue with the airbags deactivating. The concern stems from an electrical connection problem within the steering column's spiral cable assembly in the affected vehicles. This insufficiently welded connection may cause the driver's airbag to deactivate, increasing the risk of injury during a crash. To address this issue, Toyota will contact all known owners of the affected vehicles and request them to visit a Toyota or Lexus dealer for inspection. Medtronic initiates recall for defibrillators due to defect Medtronic issued a recall for more than 348,000 defibrillator products that may deliver low or no energy output when high-voltage therapy is required. The recall applies to certain implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) with glassed feedthrough made under different product names, including Cobalt XT, Cobalt, Crome ICDs, Claria MRI, Amplia MRI, Compia MRI, Viva and Brava CRT-Ds and Visia AF, Visia AF MRI, Evera, Evera MRI, Primo MRI and Mirro MRI ICDs. Due to an issue with the short circuit protection feature's inappropriate activation, the defibrillators may produce reduced-energy shocks or no shock at all when high voltage therapy is needed, potentially failing to correct life-threatening arrhythmias and leading to cardiac arrest, serious injury or death. People with the recalled ICDs and CRT-Ds should contact their health care providers immediately to have the devices programmed. Soojimus recalls Cupkin stainless steel children’s cups due to elevated lead levels Soojimus issued a recall of over 340,000 Cupkin stainless steel children's cups due to elevated levels of lead that exceeds federal regulations.
