Stellantis rearview camera recalls overview:

  • Who: Stellantis is recalling more than 1 million vehicles, including certain Ram pickup trucks and vans, Jeep SUVs, Chrysler vans and Dodge Durango SUVs.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the vehicles are equipped with rearview cameras that could fail to display an image when the vehicle is in reverse.
  • Where: The recall affects certain Stellantis vehicle owners nationwide.

Stellantis issued a recall for more than 1 million vehicles over concerns their rearview cameras could fail to display an image when in reverse.

The Stellantis recall involves certain model year 2022 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickup trucks; Ram 3500 pickup trucks with a cab chassis of less than 10,000 lbs.; 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer SUVs; 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica vans; 2021-2022 Dodge Durango SUVs; 2022-2023 Ram Promaster vans; and 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs.

“Vehicles with suspect radio software may not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions,” the Stellantis recall says.

Stellantis to update recalled vehicles’ software to meet federal rear visibility requirements

Stellantis said it plans to remedy the recall issue by updating the radio software on the affected vehicles to meet federal rear visibility requirements.

The automaker said it will abide by its policy of reimbursing affected vehicle owners who have incurred costs of repairing a problem related to the recall, but will be requesting adequate proof of payment.

Stellantis will begin notifying dealers and affected vehicle owners about the recall on or about Aug. 2, 2024, according to the recall.

Tesla announced a recall earlier this year for nearly 200,000 of its model year 2023 Tesla Model S, X and Y vehicles over similar concerns that their rearview cameras could potentially malfunction and fail to display an image.

I purchased a NEW Jeep Renegade a 2018 in 2019, Was over charged for this LEMON and the first 2 weeks I drove the car I knew something was wrong with it but the owner of the dealership in Pittsburgh PA hid for the 2 years to make sure I couldnt return it. Also the PA Attorney General didnt care either so Im now in Court over this. The company wont even give me a lifetime warranty of repairs for this lemon, thats who Jeep now is, they no longer care about their customers. I noticed an issue with the car using lots of oil but they ignore me then someone by the name of Wood sued them for just this issue 2 years ago and won. Even after I sued them they still gave no reply . I will never buy another Jeep again. This company has gone by the way side just like alot of other American companies, mainly because they could get good people to run their companys any more, your employees can make or break your company. Also they are not using good parts anymore to build and have cut corners and no longer give customers extra nice free things they used to build with. Everything now is garbage. Ive only had the car for 5 years and I already had to replace the battery it just died very strangely for no apparent reason that I could determine. A Delco battery I had years ago in my old Buick lasted for 20 years. Repair people were very surprised by this , but thats the way things once were. I wonder how long this battery is going to last. Im a disabled woman on a fixed income.

My 1016 Honda CRV has had nothing but issues with the battery. I have been through 7 batteries in 2 years. There is some sort of issue with the rear view console not shutting all the way off when the card is turned off. It drains the battery.

Jeep Cherokee not included in recall? Our 2019 was at the dealer 6 times due to review camera not working. Dealer thought it was the radio – replaced it & know wants to replace camera itself. Obviously should be part of recall.
