- Where: The Jeep Grand Cherokee recall is active in the United States.
Stellantis is recalling almost 80,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and other Jeep vehicles as their rearview camera images might not display, creating a crash risk.
The recall was published to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website on Dec. 19. It applies to 79,365 vehicles, including certain 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L vehicles.
According to the recall, incorrect software in the rearview camera module may cause the rearview camera image not to display.
“The vehicle operator will notice that the rearview image is not displayed if attempting to reference the image while backing,” the recall says. “If this warning is not heeded, backing without verifying it is safe to do so could lead to an increased risk of injury to people outside the vehicle.”
Recalled vehicles don’t meet federal safety standards, notice says
As a result of the defect, the vehicles don’t comply with the NHTSA’s Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. To remedy the issue, dealers will update the rearview camera module software, free of charge, the recall states.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by Jan. 21, 2025.
Over the last two months, General Motors, Stellantis, Tesla and Volkswagen have all issued vehicle recalls, including recalls for software issues, defective antilock brake systems, a failing transmission control valve, defective drive inverters and exploding driver’s side front airbag inflators.

Absolutely my camera has been replaced 3x. Honestly this such an emergency fix because it can and will cause an accident. It lies of distance between cars.
Add me
My Jeep GC 2014 always has a rear camera problem. The dealer even replaced the rear camera but it still doesn’t give a clear picture. It just turned 30K miles. Otherwise I love my Jeep.
I have a 2020 Jeep GC and the camera in back stopped working all together. No one can figure why. It would go on and off then one day turned blue screen and never returned on. It’s ridiculous!!!
What about your screen happen to be delaminated
