  • Who: Rudolph Foods recalled 39 cases of Rudolphโ€™s OnYums Onion Flavored Rings.
  • Why: The product may contain undeclared wheat.ย
  • Where: The Dollar Tree onion rings recall is active in the United States.

Rudolph Foods has issued a recall on dozens of cases of Rudolphโ€™s OnYums Onion Flavored Rings sold at Dollar Tree stores in 17 states as the product may contain undeclared wheat.ย

The recall was published on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website May 31.

It applies to cases of OnYums Onion Flavored Rings sold in 3-ounce packages with UPC No. 0-24622-57106-9 and code date Aug. 3, 2023, featuring time stamps 02:00-04:30.ย

According to the recall, the products may contain undeclared wheat and other sensitive ingredients, including monosodium glutamate and artificial colors yellow 6, yellow 6 lake, blue 2 lake, blue 1 lake and red 40 lake.ย

โ€œPeople who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,โ€ the recall states.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem, the company said. The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Do not consume the products, recall advises

The recall was initiated after a customer discovered the manufacturer had inadvertently placed a Chile & Limon puffed wheat chip product in packaging that does not reflect the presence of wheat, the recall states.ย

โ€œConsumers who have purchased the recalled Rudolphโ€™s OnYums โ€˜Onion Flavored Rings,โ€™ 3 oz., are encouraged not to consume the products and to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund,โ€ it says.

The affected products were sold in select Dollar Tree Stores in 17 states: Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Meanwhile, Abbyland Foods, Wellness Natural USA, Ellenos Real Greek, Gilster-Mary Lee Corp., Salento Organics, Second Nature Brands and Russell Stover have all recently initiated food recalls as well. More details on each of the recalled products are available on the FDA website.ย
