Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition is recalling some lots of its 12.6- and 19.8-ounce cans of Nutramigen powder due to possible contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii.

The contamination could have occurred in cans sampled outside the U.S. but the product was extensively tested and all came back negative for bacteria, the Nutramigen recall says.

Cronobacter sakazakii can cause severe, life-threatening infections, such as sepsis, or lead to meningitis, the infant formula recall says. Symptoms include poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes, jaundice, grunting breaths and abnormal movements.

The Nutramigen infant powder recall includes 12.6-ounce cans with batch codes ZL3FHG, ZL3FMH, ZL3FPE, ZL3FQD and ZL3FXJ. The 19.8-ounce cans have a batch code of ZL3FRW.

The cans have a UPC Code of 300871239418 or 300871239456 and a use-by date of “1 Jan 2025.”
