2,772 packs of Torn & Glasser Sprouts Farmers Market Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries are being recalled due to possibly containing dark chocolate covered almonds.

In a recall notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Torn & Glasser says it is recalling 231 cases of the dark chocolate covered cherries as they could possibly contain the chocolate covered tree nuts, which are a serious allergen.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the recall notice says.

Luckily, no illnesses have been reported to date, the recall notice says.

Dark Chocolate Almonds Mixed In With Cherries

The company initiated the recall after it was discovered that the dark chocolate covered cherries were mixed with dark chocolate covered almonds in the bag. The recalled products were sold at Sprouts Farmer Market stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah under the Sprouts Farmer Market brand beginning Nov. 3, 2021.

“Customers who purchased the above listed product with the associated lot are urged to destroy the product and/or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the recall notice says.

In 2021, the Hershey Company had to recall certain bottles of its Hershey’s Chocolate Shell Topping after discovering 1,700 bottles were filled with a different type of topping that contains almonds. The affected bottles were mistakenly filled with Heath Shell Topping, Hershey said in the recall notice.
