Update:
- BRP is recalling 700 of its Ski-Doo Snowmobiles in the United States due to a fire hazard posed by fuel leaking from the fuel tank vent onto hot components when the snowmobiles are on a tilt or flipped over.Â
- Additionally, about 3,900 snowmobiles were sold in Canada.
- According to a recall notice, the company has received five reports of fires related to fuel leaking, but, luckily, no injuries have been reported.
- This recall involves Ski-Doo 2020, 2021 and 2022 Expedition LE, SE and SWT snowmobiles with a 900 ACE turbo engine.Â
- BRP says consumers should stop using the recalled snowmobiles immediately and contact a Ski-Doo dealer for a free repair. The company says it is contacting all known purchasers directly to coordinate the free repair with dealers to change the routing and the exit location of the fuel tank vent and to install a protective plate.

(02/17/2022)
BRP is recalling 400 of its 2022 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles and 1,300 of its 2022 Can-Am Outlander ATVs, and American Landmaster is recalling 1,050 of its UTVs due to issues that can increase the vehicles’ risks of crashing and injuring those inside.
The two BRP recalls are related to issues with the vehicles’ speedometers while American Landmaster’s recall is due to a faulty steering shaft.
BRP recalled 400 of its Ski-Doo 2022 Expedition, Grand Touring, Renegade, Skandic and Tundra snowmobiles because the snowmobiles’ speedometers can display half of the vehicle’s true speed and may result in loss of control, posing a crash hazard, according to a recall notice.
BRP says it has received four reports of the vehicle speedometer not displaying the correct speed but says no injuries have been reported to date.
The vehicles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide between June and December 2021 for between $9,300 and $9,900.
BRP is also recalling 1,300 of its 2022 Can-Am Outlander ATVs. In a recall notice, it says its 2022 Can-Am Outlander 450, 450 Max, 570 and 570 Max model ATVs have the same issue with the speedometer. The company says it has received two reports of the vehicles’ speedometers not displaying the correct speed, but, again, no injuries have been reported.
The vehicles were sold at Can-Am dealers nationwide between July and November 2021 for between $6,700 and $7,700.
For both recalls, BRP is urging consumers to immediately stop using the vehicles and to contact a dealer for a free repair. BRP says it is contacting all known purchasers directly to coordinate the free repair with dealers to update the engine control module.
Steering Shaft Issue Can Lead to Loss of Control, Injury
Meanwhile, American Landmaster is recalling 1,050 of its EV, L3, L4, L5, L5W and L7 utility vehicles, all equipped with standard (non-power) steering. In a recall notice, the company says the steering shaft in the vehicles can separate from the joint and result in a loss of control, posing crash and injury hazards.
In the notice, the company says it has received seven reports of the steering shaft separating but has received no reports of injuries.
The UVs were sold nationwide between March and October 2021 for between $7,200 and $12,700. They came in red, blue and camouflage colors.
American Landmaster told consumers to immediately stop using the recalled utility vehicles and contact the company for instructions on how to conduct an inspection to determine if the vehicle requires repair or to make an appointment for a no-cost inspection and, if necessary, full repair from an authorized repair shop.
American Landmaster says it is contacting all registered owners directly
