Rae Wellness Dietary Supplement Prenatal Vitamin Recall Overview:

  • Who: Rae Wellness is recalling its Rae Prenatal Capsules and Rae Immunity Capsules.
  • Why: The packaging of the products is not child-resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide in the United States.

A range of popular dietary supplements made by Rae Wellness are being recalled as they are not sold in child-safe packaging, posing a risk of poisoning children.

In a recall notice posted Apr. 14 to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website, Rae Wellness announced it was recalling its Rae Prenatal Capsules and Rae Immunity Capsules.

“The products are dietary supplements containing iron, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA),” the notice says. “The packaging of the products is not child-resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.”

There have been no adverse incidents reported to date, the prenatal vitamin recall notice said.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Prenatal Vitamin Recall Notice Says Consumers Can Get a Full Refund

The recall applies to about 191,20 bottles of Rae Wellness Prenatal and Immunity Capsules.

Both products were sold in 60-capsule bottles and have “Rae” in yellow lettering and “Prenatal” or “Immunity” printed on the label. The bottles have a white continuous thread closure.

“Consumers should immediately store the recalled products in a safe location out of reach of children and contact Rae Wellness for information on how to dispose of the product and receive a full refund,” the recall notice says.

Consumers can also contact the place of purchase for a full refund.

The products were sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com, ThriveMarket.com, Amazon.com, FabFitFun.com and StandardDose.com from Sept. 2019 through Feb. 2022 for the Rae Prenatal Capsules and from Oct. 2020 through Feb. 2022 for the Rae Immunity Capsules. They sold for about $15.

The news comes after a $1.75 million Rainbow Light prenatal vitamin class action settlement received final approval in 2020, ending claims that the company’s prenatal vitamins contain lead though they are advertised to be free of heavy metals.
