Dollar Tree Crafter’s Hot Glue Gun Recall Overview:

  • Why: The glue gun can malfunction when plugged in, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States and Canada.

Dollar Tree is recalling more than 1 million hot glue guns in the United States and Canada as the guns can malfunction when plugged in, posing fire and burn hazards that has already seen four fires reported.

In a recall notice posted Apr. 14 to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website, Dollar Tree said it was recalling about 1,025,000 Crafter’s Square Glue Guns in the United States and 21,900 in Canada.

Dollar Tree said it has received seven reports of electrical malfunctions when using the glue guns, including four reports of fire and one report of skin irritation.

The guns dispense hot glue when plugged into an outlet and the trigger is depressed.

The plastic glue gun is black with an orange trigger and tip. The glue guns have a silver UL listed label located above the handle with “GLUE GUN” and “XY-15302” printed on the label.

“Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the Crafter’s Square Glue Gun and return it to any Dollar Tree or Family Dollar store for a full refund,” the notice says.

Online purchasers will be contacted directly with further instructions.

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Dollar Tree Glue Guns Sold Nationwide

The glue guns were sold nationwide in Dollar Tree stores from August 2020 through February 2022 and Family Dollar stores nationwide from January 2022 through February 2022.

The guns were also sold online at www.dollartree.com from August 2021 through February 2022 for about $1.

Meanwhile, discount store Dollar Tree made headlines in 2021 when it upped the prices of its items to over a dollar, which had many customers wondering if its name could be considered false advertising.

Here we explain how Dollar Tree and other discount stores can charge higher prices and not get sued for false advertising.
