Continental Mills is recalling buttermilk pancake and waffle mixes sold at Walmart and Kroger after fragments of a cable used to clear the processing line were discovered in a limited amount of the powdered products.
According to the company, two lots of the Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix need to be recalled due to the issue and one lot of the Walmart Great Value Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix is being recalled.
Kroger, Walmart Consumers So Far Unaffected
In a recall notice posted by U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Continental Mills says the recalled Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix is packaged in a box with a net wt. of 2 lbs., UPC 01111088219 and lot codes KX2063 and KX2064. The best-by dates are 09/01/2023 and 09/02/2023.
The Kroger mix was distributed to Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
No contaminated product or injuries have been reported by consumers to date, the company says.
In a separate recall notice for the Great Value Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix sold at Walmart, Continental Mills also says consumers had not reported any affected product or injuries.
The recalled Great Value Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix has a UPC 078742370828, lot code KX2063 and best-by date of 09/01/2023. The affected product was distributed nationwide where consumers purchased products through retail Walmart stores, the recall notice says.
Continental Mills is urging consumers to either dispose of the product or return it to the local store for a replacement or refund.
Earlier this month, Walmart had to recall more than 25,500 bags of its Great Value tortilla chips after pieces of metal were found inside.
In an enforcement report issued March 3 on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website, the company said it was recalling 2,555 10-bag cases of Great Value Restaurant Style White Corn Tortilla Chips. “Chips may contain a foreign material (metal),” the enforcement report stated.
