Automakers Toyota, Stellantis, Chrsler, Kia, General Motors and Tesla issued vehicle recalls in June over various safety concerns.

An automaker may choose to issue a vehicle recall if it determines it contains an issue that could endanger drivers, passengers, pedestrians and others on the roadway.

Toyota recalls vehicles over camera image, engine concerns

Toyota issued a recall for about 13,000 model year 2023 Toyota Crown vehicles over concerns their camera cases could get water inside them, potentially leading to a short circuit that could affect their image display

The automaker says it plans to remedy the issue by having its dealers inspect and repair the cameras on the recalled vehicles, as necessary.

“If the rearview image does not display, there can be an increased risk of striking and injuring a pedestrian while backing the vehicle,” the Toyota recall says.

Toyota also issued a recall for approximately 120,000 model year 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles over concerns they could suffer a loss of motive power due to potential machining debris left in their engines during production..

“In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or a loss of motive power,” the Toyota recall says.

Stellantis recalls 1M+ vehicles over rearview camera image display concerns

Stellantis issued a recall for more than 1 million vehicles this month over concerns their rearview cameras could fail to display an image when the vehicles are in the reverse.

The recall involves certain Ram pickup trucks and vans, Jeep SUVs, Chrysler vans and Dodge Durango SUVs.

“Vehicles with suspect radio software may not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions,” the Stellantis recall says.

Stellantis says it plans to update the radio software on the recalled vehicles so they meet federal rear visibility requirements.

Chrysler recalls 210,000+ vehicles over defective ABS control modules

Chrysler issued a recall for more than 210,000 vehicles over concerns their ABS control modules contain a defect that causes them to disable their electronic stability control systems.

The recall involves certain model year 2022 Dodge Durango SUVs, Ram 2500 pickup trucks and Ram 3500 Cab Chassis vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 10,000 pounds.

Chrysler says its dealers will update the ABS control module software on the recalled Durango and Ram vehicles free of charge, according to the recall notice.

More than 460,000 Kia Telluride vehicles recalled over fire risk

Kia issued a recall for more than 460,000 model year 2020-2024 Kia Telluride vehicles over concerns they can catch fire

The front power seat on the recalled Telluride vehicles could potentially overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, leading to a fire risk, according to the Kia recall

The automaker advises owners of the recalled Telluride vehicles to park them outside and away from structures until a recall repair has been completed.

GM recalls 13,000+ Chevrolet Corvette vehicles over unlocking seatbelt concerns

General Motors issued a recall for more than 13,000 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles in June over concerns their seatbelts can unlock themselves under certain conditions.

The recall involves 13,464 model year 2024-2025 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles made between Sept. 18, 2023, and March 22, 2024.

“Occupants who travel without a properly functioning seatbelt have an increased risk of injury if the vehicle is involved in a crash,” the GM recall says.

GM  says it plans to remedy the issue by having its dealers replace the seat belt retractors on the recalled Chevrolet Corvette vehicles as necessary.

Tesla vehicles recalled over seat belt notification system concerns

Tesla issued a recall for more than 125,000 of its model year 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles over concerns their seat belt notification systems don’t work properly

The automaker says it planned an over-the-air software fix beginning in June to remedy the recall

“A vehicle that does not alert the driver to an unfastened seat belt after the vehicle ignition is moved to the ‘on’ or ‘start’ position does not comply with (federal regulations),” the Tesla recall says.
