A potential salmonella contamination affecting Jif brand peanut butter products manufactured by J.M. Smucker has triggered a number of new recalls.

Smucker initiated a nationwide recall for a select number of Jif peanut butter products earlier this month over concerns they were contaminated with salmonella.

Del Monte, Bix, A G, Euphoria, Giant Eagle issue recalls over possible Jif peanut butter salmonella contamination

Fresh Del Monte voluntarily recalled its fresh-cut fruit and vegetable products containing “ready-to-eat” Jif peanut butter dip May 24.

The recalled Fresh Del Monte products include its 5-ounce Del Monte Apples with Peanut Butter, 4.25-ounce Peanut Butter Snack Pack, 6-and 5.5-ounce Apples and Peanut Butter, and Sandwich with Peanut Butter Cup.

AG Specialty Foods, meanwhile, initiated a voluntary recall for a number of its products containing Jif brand peanut butter products potentially contaminated with salmonella, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 27.

The recalled AG Specialty Foods products include its We Be PB & Jammin’ Snack Box, Peanut Butter Strawberry Jam Old Fashioned White Bread and Peanut Butter Strawberry Jam White Bread.

The Jif salmonella contamination also affected Bix Produce Co. of Little Canada, which recalled its 5 ounce packages of its Created Fresh! brand “Egg and Cheese Curds snack box” and Jack & Olive brand “Egg and Cheese Curds Power Box” on May 25.

Bix initiated the recall due to the products containing recalled Jif Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5-ounce cups.

Euphoria Chocolate Co., meanwhile, initiated a voluntary recall for a number of its products that were potentially contaminated with salmonella from recalled Jif 96-ounce Crunchy Peanut Butter Twin Packs.

The recalled products include Euphoria’s Peanut Butter Classic Truffles, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Meltaways and Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Meltaways, according to a recall notice published by the FDA on May 26.

Giant Eagle also issued a voluntary recall this week for packages of its apple slices and peanut butter products sold in its GetGo stores.

The recall affects Giant Eagle products sold in GetGo stores in Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio through May 13, Spectrum News 1 reported

A class action lawsuit was filed earlier this month against Smucker in response to the Jif peanut butter salmonella contamination recall.

The consumer behind the class action lawsuit claims Smucker misled the public about the safety of its Jif peanut butter products.

Smucker’s Jif peanut butter recall has already led to a number of other product recalls, including ones initiated by Country Fresh, Mary’s Harvest, Garden Cut and Coblentz.
