- Dairy Manufacturers is notifying parents that a sample of one of its Crecelac infant formulas tested positive for cronobacter spp, a bacterium that can cause bloodstream and central nervous system infections, such as sepsis and meningitis.Â
- Dairy Manufacturers issued the notice June 4, 11 days after it recalled all lots of its infant formula because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration did not properly evaluate them.
- One lot of Crecelac Infant 0-12 with an expiration date of August 2025 tested positive for the bacteria, which can cause brain abscesses and even death in babies, according to the recall notice. Dairy Manufacturers sold the formula in Texas.Â
- There have been no reports of injuries, the notice says. Parents who bought Crecelac Infant 0-12 should stop using it and return it for a full refund.

Dairy Manufacturers recalled all lots of its infant formula because the formula had not been properly inspected and evaluated for safety by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The infant formula recall covers Crecelac Infant 0-12 with UPC 8 50042 40847 6 and expiration dates of 08/2025 and 09/2025; Farmalac 0-12 with UPC 8 50042 40841 4 and expiration dates of 08/2025 and 09/2025; and Farmalac 0-12 Low lactose with UPC 8 50042 40839 1 and expiration dates of 08/2025 and 09/2025.
The FDA infant formula recall applies to the 12.4-ounce aluminum cans of formula packaged in cardboard and sold in Texas.
No reports of illness from infant formula recall
Dairy Manufacturers says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
The FDA compliance issues were found after FDA notification because Dairy Manufacturers had not submitted proper premarket notification.
Consumers are asked to return the formula to their place of purchase for a full refund.
