Honda has issued a recall for the brake hold on a small number of 2023 Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Acura RDX and Acura Integra models due to damage that occurred during production that led the brake hold not to function.

The impacted vehicles โ€” of which there are a total of 386 โ€” were identified based on supplier and manufacturing data. The recall applies to Honda Civics manufactured between Nov. 23, 2022 and Dec. 13, 2022, along with Honda Accords made between Dec. 1, 2022 and Dec. 6, 2022, according to the Honda recall.

The impacted Acura RDX models were manufactured between Dec. 1, 2022 and Dec. 5, 2022 while the Acura Integras were made between Nov. 30, 2022 and Jan. 4, 2023.

The defect occurred because a ball valve was damaged during the manufacturing process after a foreign object was stuck in a caulking tool that would seal the valve. Because of that issue, valves may not sufficiently seal, causing the brake hold to fail.

Honda will contact impacted car owners via mail to have their brake hold fixed, Honda recall says

Honda says that it will contact impacted vehicle owners via mail beginning on July 24 and will be asked to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer for repair. Those who have previously repaired the issue at their own expense will be eligible for reimbursement. Dealers were notified of the Honda brake hold recall on June 16.ย

Honda says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Honda can be reached at 888-234-21388 while information on the recalls are available at recalls.honda.com or recalls.acura.com.

Honda is facing a class action lawsuit that claims some vehicles have an engine defect that makes them inoperable.
