Fire, burn hazard triggers Secura air fryer recall

Secura has recalled around 6,400 of its Secura air fryers over concerns that a wire connection in the devices could overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. 

The recall, which also includes about 680 Secura air fryers sold in Canada, was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Sept. 28. 

Secura has received nine reports of the recalled air fryers catching fire, burning, and smoking, according to the recall, which notes that no injuries or property damage have been reported at this time. 

The recall involves Secura air fryers with model number SAF-53D (TXG-DT16E) and date code 1901, and model number SAF-53 (TXG-DS16) with the date codes 1903 and 1904.

Recalled Secura air fryers sold exclusively online from May 2019 through October 2020

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled Secura air fryers and to contact the company to receive either a $45 Amazon gift card or a replacement Secura product free of charge. 

The recalled Secura air fryers were sold on Amazon.com and Secura’s website for between $48 and $90 from May 2019 through October 2020.

In a separate recall involving fire risk concerns, Ford recalled more than 142,000 of its Lincoln MKC vehicles in June over concerns the SUVs could spontaneously catch fire, even when not running.
