- Who: FCA issued a recall for more than 1.2 million model year 2019 and model year 2021-2024 Ram 1500 pickup trucks.
- Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the electronic stability control systems on the Ram 1500 pickup trucks could become disabled while the vehicle is being driven.
- Where: The Ram 1500 recall affects certain vehicle owners nationwide.
FCA issued a recall for more than 1.2 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks over concerns a defect could cause their electronic stability control (ESC) systems to become disabled while the vehicle is in drive.
The Ram 1500 recall involves certain model year 2019 and 2021-2024 Ram 1500 pickup truck vehicles produced between Oct. 31, 2017, and Feb. 14, 2024.
FCA, which said the issue keeps the vehicles from complying with federal motor vehicle safety standards, attributed the problem to a software malfunction within the vehicles’ anti-lock braking system that can disable the ESC system, potentially causing a crash.
“Failure of the ESC system when intervention is expected and/or relied upon can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning,” the Ram 1500 recall says.
FCA to notify affected Ram 1500 vehicle owners in early October
FCA plans to remedy the issue by updating the ABS control module software on the recalled Ram 1500 vehicles, according to the recall.
The automaker said it plans to notify affected Ram 1500 vehicle owners about the recall Oct. 3. Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact FCA by telephone at 1-800-853-1403.
Vehicle owners with more questions about the recall may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
FCA issued a separate recall for 131,700 Ram 1500 pickup trucks in April over concerns they may have an issue with their powertrain software.

2021 ram 1500 out of service due (going onto 7weeks) to recall 75b (abs system module). I have been told “sorry for inconvenience and offered no help”
The Electronic Power Steering also fail on many of these Rams. Chrysler has had many electrical problems with their vehicles for years. I had to send a Crysler Córdoba to the dump with only 14000 miles on it. Some Cordobas burned up because of electrical problems under the dashboard. Right now I have a Caravan that has the starter in such a bad location that I will have to pay close to $100 just to remove and replace it. They need to checkout all their engineers. No more Chryslers for me.
I just checked my Vin # with NHTSA and my vehicle I purchased new shows and open recall with No remedy
