Damascus Bakery Bantam Classic Bagels Recall Overview:

  • Who: Damascus Baker issued a voluntary recall for one lot of its Bantam Classic Bagels.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over an undeclared egg allergen.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Damascus Bakery has voluntarily recalled one lot of its Bantam Classic Bagels after discovering an item placed in the carton contained an undeclared egg allergen.

The item was not supposed to be placed in the carton and can present a serious allergy risk to individuals who are allergic to eggs, according to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

People who have an egg allergy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the items in this product lot,” the company said.

The affected Bantam Classic Bagels are the mini stuffed bagel variety with labeling on the box describing them as “plain bagel stuffed with plain whipped cream cheese!”

The recalled product was distributed nationwide and has a best buy date of May 27, 2023 printed on the left side of the carton and the top of its bag, according to the recall notice.

Damascus Bakery says no illnesses have been reported and that no other Bantam Bagel products are affected.

Damascus Bakery Asks Consumers To Dispose Of Bagels

The company is asking consumers who purchased the affected Bantam Classic Bagels to immediately dispose of them and to contact the company at 866-451-6744 to receive a replacement coupon.

Last month, Conagra Brands issued a recall for its Wish-Bone brand Thousand Island and Chunky Blue Cheese salad dressings over undeclared egg allergen concerns.

Conagra recalled a total of four batches of the salad dressings after discovering it failed to declare that they contained egg on the products label.

An undeclared egg allergen was also the reason for a January 2021 recall of Dole’s Sesame Asian Chopped Salad Kit.

Dole initiated the recall after discovering it failed to warn consumers that the dressing and topping kit contained egg.
