If you reached into your box of Cheddalicious Cheese Flavored Crackers and pulled out a surprising animal-shaped product this weekend, your crackers might be subject to a recall.
On Apr. 2, B&G Foods announced it is voluntarily recalling 1,855 cases of a single date code of 6 oz. Back to Nature Cheddalicious Cheese Flavored Crackers
The recalled crackers have a โbest-byโ date of Sept. 5, 2022.ย
B&G said it was issuing the recall after learning that a limited number of the cracker boxes were โinadvertently filled with foil-wrapped pouches of animal-shaped crackers.โย
The animal crackers contain egg and milk, allergens that are not declared on the box label.ย
โPeople who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg or milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the animal-shaped crackers contained in the recalled boxes,โ the company said.ย
No allergic reactions related to this matter have been reported to date. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
Back to Nature Recall Originates From Consumer Complaint
B&G Foods said it discovered the issue when it received a consumer complaint that a foil pouch in a box of Cheddalicious Cheese Flavored Crackers contained animal-shaped crackers.ย
โThe third-party co-packer that produces the product inadvertently filled a limited number of Back to Nature Cheddalicious Cheese Flavored Crackers product boxes with another food companyโs animal-shaped crackers,โ the company said.
Affected products were shipped to warehouses in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Consumers who have purchased the product can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, the notice said. Those seeking a refund or additional information may also contact B&G Foods by calling 855 346-2225 Monday through Friday.
The news comes as B&G Foods and La Flor Products Company each face a class action lawsuit alleging they manufactured and sold spices containing toxic heavy metals.
