- Why: Amazon says the chairs pose fall and injury hazards.
- Where: The Amazon chair recall is active in the United States.
Amazon recalled more than 11,000 of its desk chairs after receiving multiple reports of the chair legs breaking, including one report of a person being injured.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall notice Oct. 27. It applies to about 11,400 Amazon Basics Desk Chairs.
According to the Amazon recall, the chairs’ leg base can break, posing fall and injury hazards.
“Amazon has received 13 reports of chair leg bases breaking, including one report of a minor shoulder injury,” the notice says.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to in class action lawsuits.
Amazon chair recall says consumers should immediately stop using recalled product
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact Amazon for instructions on how to dispose of the chairs for a full refund, the recall states.
Consumers will be asked to upload a photo of the chair’s leg base and certify disposal of the chair, according to the Amazon recall. Upon receipt of the photo and certification of disposal, consumers will be issued a full refund to a valid payment method in the consumer’s Amazon wallet or an Amazon gift card.
The affected product is an upholstered swivel chair sold in black, brown and white. It has padded armrests and five legs with rolling casters. The recall only includes chairs that have a horizontal plastic piece on the bottom of the caster bracket.
The product was sold online at Amazon.com from September 2021 through April 2022 for between $103 and $170.
In other Amazon recall news, male sexual enhancement pills sold on Amazon under the name Wonder Pill were recalled last month as they may contain undeclared tadalafil, meaning they are not approved for sale by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Please add me as I had fall resulting from the chair failure.
Add me
I have purchased a number of these chairs from Amazon…currently have two right now. The third one I gave to my son.
I haven’t had much problems with getting my packages on time. I feel the amount I pay every year is well worth the free shipping and all of the prime video and music that I get. It disgusts me that people want to sue for something stupid like this. All it’s going to do is make it more expensive for everybody that does enjoy the service and realizes that life happens. Just two more skanks looking out for free money. I love supporting the businesses on Amazon, and they are no different than the small businesses on Etsy or ebay. People need to get a job and quit suing for stupid stuff. Again I repeat, all this does is raise prices and causes people to lose their jobs.
I purchased one of 6Desk Chairs and it has been a problem Rolling and it does Tilt to the Side!
Please Add me.
Same here, bought 2 , they both did this. Very disappointed.
