Another week leads to another Chevy Bolt recall by General Motors (GM), as well as recalls affecting Dodge Challengers and Chargers, Ford trucks, and Lincoln Aviators. Read on to see if your car is affected by any of these vehicle safety recalls

Chevy Bolt Recall After Battery Fires

GM issued the latest in a series of Chevy Bolt recalls after several vehicles caught fire despite a recent software update.

The company announced that two “rare manufacturing defects” in the same battery were discovered as the cause of the Chevy Bolt fires. Owners of 2017-2019 Chevy Bolts are warned to continue to park their vehicles outside until GM can replace the battery.

In addition, GM has issued directives when it comes to charging cars subject to the Chevy Bolt recall.

“Customers should, whether or not they received the current software update, return their vehicle to the 90% state of charge limitation using Hilltop Reserve mode (for 2017-2018 model years) or Target Charge Level (for 2019 model year) mode,” says GM in its Chevy Bolt recall announcement

In addition, GM says that Bolt owners should avoid depleting their batteries to less than a 70-mile range.

Dodge Challenger, Charger, Chrysler 300 Recalled for Windshield Detachment

Chrysler has warned that the windshields in more than 20,000 late-model Dodge Challengers, Chargers, and Chrysler 300 vehicles may detach during a crash due to an improper bond, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announcement

Chrysler will replace the windshield sealant for free.

Ford F-150 Recall for Driveshaft Separation

2020-2021 Ford F-150 trucks may not be able to support the load of the vehicle and separate, according to a recall announcement by the NHTSA. More than 27,000 vehicles are affected by the recall and Ford warns that, without repair, the rear axles may deform, leading to driveshaft separation.

Ford F-150 owners can take their pickup truck to a dealer for a free inspection and repair if necessary.

33K Lincoln Aviators Recalled

Ford has also issued a recall notice for 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviators for an issue that may affect the vehicles’ electrical system.

“The wire harness may not be secured properly, possibly contacting the air conditioning (A/C) compressor pulley, and resulting in damage to electrical wires, or the A/C compressor drive belt,” says the NHTSA notice

The recall is limited to vehicles with 3.0L gasoline engines. Owners can take recalled Lincoln Aviators to a dealership for a free inspection and repair.

Top Class Actions will continue to monitor this and other auto recalls to help keep consumers informed.

Consumers can check to see if their vehicles are a part of the GM SUV recall or another safety defect recall by visiting the NHTSA website and entering their 17-digit vehicle identification number.
