Wahl heat massager has been recalled over a potential fire risk.

Beware of your relaxation devices consumers, a range of heat massagers have been deemed a potential fire hazard.

American grooming company, Wahl Clipper Corporation, has made a voluntary recall of all Deluxe Heat Therapy Massagers, Model 4212, over a possible fire risk, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced on Thursday.

Wahl does not currently face legal action over the heat massagers, but Top Class Actions tracks recalls because they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

According to the announcement, the connection between the massager and heat attachment can overheat, causing smoke or sparks that gives the device potential to catch fire.

As of the recall date, no injuries have been reported in the recall notice.

Individuals who purchased the Deluxe Heat Therapy Massagers, Model 4212, are advised to stop using their massagers immediately.

“Your safety is important to Wahl Clipper Corporation,” the company stated in the recall notice.

The corporation announced that it would offer a free exchange of the massagers for those who had purchased the recalled items, as well as providing a full refund and an additional $10 for any inconvenience caused.

Consumers with questions may contact Wahl Clipper Corporation at 800-767-9245 or email at techsupport@wahlclipper.com.

TCA reached out to Wahl for comment on the recall and will update the story when we hear back.

Wahl’s massagers are not the first products to draw public attention from consumers. In December 2017, the manufacturer of Wahl Dog Shampoo and Doggie Deodorant were hit with a class action lawsuit for false advertising, alleging the products were not “100% Natural” or “Natural,” even though the consumers purchased the products for that reason. The labeling for these products clearly states that the items are “100% Natural”, according to the lawsuit.
