Generac SnapRS class action lawsuit overview:
- Who: Dustin Moon filed a class action lawsuit against Generac Power Systems Inc.
- Why: Moon claims Generac sells dangerous and defective solar panel PWRcell Systems containing faulty SnapRS (rapid shutdown) unit components.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in California federal court.
Generac Power Systems sells defective and dangerous solar panel PWRcell Systems containing faulty SnapRS (rapid shutdown) unit components that fail in their job to rapidly shut down power to individual solar panels, a new class action lawsuit alleges.
Plaintiff Dustin Moore claims the SnapRS units in Generac’s PWRcell Systems are meant to protect against electric surges, but, instead, are prone to malfunctioning by becoming overactive.
Moore argues the Generac SnapRS units, after becoming overactive, can begin to “overheat, bubble, burn and explode, resulting in charring and home fires.”
“Generac’s SnapRS units are defective and dangerous to consumers and their homes,” the Generac class action argues.
Moon wants to represent a nationwide class and California subclass of consumers who have purchased, leased, or otherwise acquired a Generac PWRcell System containing an allegedly defective SnapRS unit.
Generac has failed to disclose alleged defect to consumers, says class action
In addition to allegedly failing to rapidly shut down power, Moore claims the alleged defect leads to a “loss of energy production” by ultimately “shutting down entire panels for prolonged periods of time or complete shutdowns of their entire energy system.”
Moore also argues Generac failed to disclose to consumers that its SnapRS units are allegedly defective, while neglecting to recall them, provide refunds or offer consumers “adequate replacement components.”
“Despite that it knew or should have known of this Defect, Generac failed to disclose this Defect to Plaintiff and other consumers,” the Generac class action states.
Moore claims Generac is guilty of breach of express warranty and breach of implied warranty and is in violation of California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, Unfair Competition Law and Consumer Legal Remedies Act.
The plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory and injunctive relief along with an award of compensatory and punitive damages for himself and all class members.
In November, Generac reannounced it was recalling more than 325,000 of its portable generators after it said it received additional reports of finger injuries — including amputations — caused by an unlocked handle on the generator.

I too am dealing with the faulty system labeled herein! I need to be added, but i live in Illinois.
Please add me to this lawsuit. I have had this system since 2021 and it has never worked properly. I have an 80,000 dollar system on my home and it has never worked more then a month at full compacity. I have contacted Generac several times and get the run around. I too am paying full price for a system that has never completely worked
Please add me
How can one get added to this lawsuit? A friend and his parents spent over 100k and neither of the systems work.
Please add us to class action suit. We paid $37000 for a Generac system installed by Solar Titan. They were out several months ago and told us the clips were faulty. We’ve been leaving messages for almost a month and still haven’t received a response.
Generac and salt pink energy put in my solar panels and they only worked maybe 6 months I’ve had them since 2020 and I and I was quoted $38,000 for the system and I ended up charging me 48,000 now they went into bankruptcy in my system is down because of the snaps weren’t replaced and I’m still paying a loan off and and a high electric bill and I found out that Loan Pal had wrote my debt off as a bad debt but it still collecting my monthly payments
I have the generac solar panels that are defective. They have cost me so much money and are a hazard. Please add me to the class action lawsuit.
We spent 80,000 dollars on a system and it took months to get working correctly it is now not working properly again and I hear about this lawsuit thing across the nation. They still owe us money from the system not working properly to begin with..Power home solar has went out of business.Filed bankruptcy.Generac has assigned us a new company to take care of us said there is a issue with our system.I wish they would have said that it could possibly be fatal I am looking into joining a class action since our electric bill has went sky high again.
I would like information on being added to the class action law suite my Genarac system has never worked correctly sence day one
Would like to be apart of this lawsuit. My system has been on my house for going on 3 yrs and has only worked for 2 months total time through that whole time. I have had my Snaps replaced many times, this last time they were replaced and the system is still down and Generac has done nothing to help me get it back up and running!!! Half the the time I call I am put on hold for an hour and some how am disconnected out of no where and given no call back!!

Please add me.
Please add me to your list. I have solar panels with the snaps issue that has not worked for 2 years.
Please add me. I had had a solar system on my roof since november of 2021 and of the 17 panels, I have never had more than 5 functional at any time. a continuos 7kw system, im lucky if it clocks 500w over an entire day. multiple times repair people have just “shown up” without notice. Further, despite having the ATS system and powerview, Generac witholds all troubleshooting data from my system and refuses me access to the monitoring data for MY PROPERTY, which would reveal when the system went down, why, and how long it’s been down. I have every right to that data, and know for a fact that their is no one at generac monitoring systems for declines, or failures. they only look when I’ve complained about low production. This system cost me $51,000 ands practically a friggin paperweight!

Our $70,000 solar panels quit working 2 weeks ago and Generac said they haven’t assigned us to anyone and don’t know when they can. Not only did we drain our retirement to buy this now useless extremely expensive system but there is no resolution in sight AND we’re paying full electric again. We lost electricity for 4 days and our upright freezer on the panels had no electricity to it. We lost 100’s of $$ worth of food we spent months stocking up on. I want my retirement back. I want a resolution to our now dead system.
Please add me as well. I just found a coworker with same system from same company lost their entire home. I’m terrified of these panels now and desperate!
