Lunchables heavy metals class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Laura LaSpisa filed a class action lawsuit against Kraft Heinz Foods Company.
  • Why: LaSpisa claims Kraft Heinz sold Lunchables brand meal kits contaminated with phthalates and high levels of the heavy metals lead and cadmium.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.

Kraft Heinz Foods Company manufactured and sold Lunchables brand meal kits contaminated with high levels of phthalates and the heavy metals lead and cadmium, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Laura LaSpisa’s class action lawsuit claims Kraft Heinz deceptively advertises that the Lunchable meal kits — which are marketed primarily at and for consumption by children —  are safe and nutritious, despite the alleged presence of heavy metals.

“Kraft Heinz’s Lunchables meal kits are contaminated with levels of heavy metals that no reasonable parent would want their children to eat in a single meal,” the Lunchables class action lawsuit states.

LaSpisa wants to represent a class of consumers who, in the state of New York, purchased Lunchables products that were manufactured, marketed, distributed and/or sold by Kraft Heinz and warranted by the company as being safe for children to consume.

Consumer Reports testing reveals presence of heavy metals in Lunchables, class action says

The presence of phthalates and heavy metals in Lunchables was revealed from recent testing conducted by Consumer Reports, according to the Lunchables class action, which argues the results of the study caught consumers off guard.

“Prior to learning about the results of the Consumer Report study, Ms. LaSpisa had no reason to know and did not know that Lunchables contained harmful substances such as lead, cadmium and phthalates,” the Lunchables class action lawsuit states.

LaSpisa claims Kraft Heinz is violating New York General Business Law. She demands a jury trial and requests an award of damages plus statutory and treble damages for herself and all class members.

A consumer filed a similar class action lawsuit against Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods last year over claims the company failed to disclose that some of its flaxseed products contain unsafe levels of cadmium.

As a GenX’r, I’m so tried of seeing the quality of food in this country be a set up for poor health that over time will lead to deeper medical complications….We trust in agencies that are created to publicly oversee a general standard and yet how ironic, RUSSIA DOESN’T ALLOW GMO’s as well as EUROPE- why are we not even getting a better standard for quality over quantity as well as the pass on organic?

FYI- ORGANIC used to be the normal standard🕳💣💥
