An overwhelming majority of American teenagers with smartphones have an iPhone, according to a report released by investment banking company Piper Sandler.
Piper Sandler revealed that 87% of American teens who responded to its Taking Stock With Teens survey own an iPhone and 88% expect an iPhone to be their next mobile device.
The company’s Taking Stock With Teens survey is a semi-annual research project that, this time around, included input from a total of 9,193 teenagers with an average age of 15.7 years, according to Piper Sandler.
Apple, which manufactures the iPhone, is set to benefit from the popularity among teens teenagers of its flagship smartphone, according to researchers, who said it could end up being a good sign for its bottom line, Business Insider reports.
“These trends are encouraging as the company continues to introduce new iPhones — proving the overall stickiness of the product portfolio,” the researchers stated, as reported by Business Insider.
Teens also widely using Apple Watch and Apple Pay, survey says
The Taking Stock With Teens survey also revealed that 34% of respondents said they own an Apple Watch — an accessory that can be connected to an iPhone — while 42% said they used Apple Pay within the last month.
“We think these positive trends can also be a catalyst for further services growth as well, as the install base for Apple hardware continues to grow,” Piper Sandler researchers said, as reported by Business Insider.
One area where Apple reportedly isn’t leading the competition is in the music-streaming sector, with 40% of respondents saying they used Apple Music within the last six months, compared to 70% who said they used Spotify, according to Business Insider.
Apple Music still was more widely used than other music streaming services, however, such as YouTube Music, Amazon Prime Music and Soundcloud, Business Insider reported.
In other recent news involving Apple, a lawsuit was filed against the company in September over claims it violated its wide angle imaging patent with its new iPhone 15.
