Honda Odyssey ignitionMore and more consumers are complaining of major issues with a Honda infotainment system defect, which can lead to distracted driving or the disabling of key safety features. The specific vehicles that may have been affected by this defect are the 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey, the 2019 Honda Pilot, and the 2019 Acura RDX.

What is an Infotainment System?

In-vehicle infotainment
(IVI) is a collection of both information and entertainment technologies (hardware and software) into a single system. These systems provide entertainment like audio and video, gaming, social networking, and more.

The information side of the “infotainment” portmanteau generally involves navigation and diagnostic capabilities, geared toward information and safety. This can include rear parking assistance, satellite navigation, radio, and vehicle information. Infotainment systems also incorporate phone services to provide hands-free communication while driving.

These systems are meant to be very focused on safety. However, some users of certain Honda vehicles claim that their infotainment systems in fact posed a danger to them because of a substantial defect.

Honda Infotainment System Defect

A number of consumers who have either owned or leased one of these Honda models report that the cars’ infotainment system can suddenly freeze and lose functionality.

The Honda infotainment system defect may affect a number of essential systems, including the navigation system, audio system, backup camera, cabin watch system, Bluetooth, and rear-entertainment system. Not only can the sudden malfunction of these systems be distracting for the driver; the failure of key safety features could also place the driver, passengers, and others on the road at risk.

The infotainment system in the 2018/2019 Honda Odyssey is the same as the system in the 2019 Pilot and the 2019 Acura RDX, and thus may also be affected by the same potentially distracting, dangerous defect.

Some Honda owners have turned to litigation, and more still have complained to Honda and the National Highway Safety Administration. If you have owned or leased a 2018 or 2019 Honda Odyssey, a 2019 Honda Pilot, or a 2019 Acura RDX, and have experienced a defect with the infotainment system, you may be eligible to join a Honda class action lawsuit investigation and receive compensation.

Honda Odyssey and Pilot Infotainment Lawsuit

A class action lawsuit was filed in March 2019 over an alleged defect in the 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey and 2019 Honda Pilot infotainment system that caused the system to suddenly crash or freeze. According to the lawsuit, so many consumers have complained about these kinds of issues with the Honda infotainment system that Consumer Reports now classifies the Honda Odyssey as “No Longer Recommended”.

If you have experienced issues with your Honda infotainment system in a 2018/2019 Honda Odyssey, 2019 Honda Pilot, or 2019 Acura RDX, you may be able to join this Honda infotainment class action lawsuit investigation and pursue compensation. The Honda Odyssey Infotainment Lawsuit is Case No. 2:19-cv-02160, in the U.S. District Court for the Western Division of the Central District of California.

  1. Contessa says:

I traded my Honda Accord in for a 2019 Honda Odyssey! We haven’t had it a month and are having the same issues as everyone! My husband wanted the Odyssey for our three granddaughters to enjoy while we travel. This had been horrible!

If not too late I would love to get on the lawsuit.

2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L… this vehicle is garbage. The radio will lose sound, the dashboard periodically goes black and reboots while driving…I don’t believe the lane keep assist does anything except make the steering wheel vibrate, the radar cruise control will crash you into a vehicle before it registered someone is in front of you, should have gone with the Toyota.

  3. Sarah Rasmussen says:

I just bought a 2019 Honda Oddyssey and am having the same issues. Says “no connection for fm” and while I’m listening through Bluetooth I will hear static noises and the suddenly I will hear no sound although it looks like it is still playing my music. It also occasionally shows “network communication loss” and reboots itself or sometimes will not even turn on until five minutes into my drive. This is getting more and more frequent and happens a almost every time I get in the car. Super frustrating!

  4. Alison Phelps says:

I have a 5 month old odyssey that seems to be having this problem. I was driving long distance and the audio stopped all of a sudden. This is so disheartening to hear the problems others are having. The traded in my lemon odyssey for this car. It’s been fine so far. Now I am concerned…

  5. Shaunna Kemp says:

I am going through this now.. have a 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite and have had nothing but problems with the infotainment system since I purchased it. Camera constantly goes out, speakers go out, entire system goes out, etc. They recently replaced a part saying it would fix everything but it hasn’t. Guess I will be taking it back to Honda for another try.

  6. Saeed Khan says:

    Hi,

I can add my self into it
I have 2020 Honda odyssey ex-l with navi&RES, experiencing flickering, suddenly shutdown and lost navigation while driving, I talked to dealership and they kept my van for a week still experiencing the same issue.
add me to this class action lawsuit.

  7. Whitney Kallenbach says:

    Hi-
I have a 2019 Odyssey with the same issues, how do you join?

  8. Renee says:

I have a 2019 Honda Odyssey and have had horrible issues. It seems 70-80% of the time something isn’t working. This is the worse car I have ever owned. I paid extra for the entertainment system so that my grandkids could enjoy and reality is I can’t even use it for the radio or backing up or charging my phone or anything half the time. I would love to join the suit but need to know how to do that. Please add me or tell me how I join.

  9. Vivian says:

Please add me we have had issues since the day after we bought our 2018 2 years ago. We have complained to Corporate and nothing has been done.

  10. Um says:

    How can I join?
