Paparazzi Toxic Heavy Metals Jewelry Class Action Lawsuit Overview:

  • Who: Tamie Hollins filed a class action lawsuit against Paparazzi, LLC.
  • Why: Hollins claims Paparazzi deceptively and misleadingly represented that its jewelry products don’t contain lead or nickel.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.

Paparazzi deceptively and misleadingly represented that its jewelry products are “lead-free and nickel-free,” a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Tamie Hollins claims jewelry sold by Paparazzi actually contains “detectable levels of lead and nickel” in addition to other heavy metals.

Paparazzi removed the “lead-free and nickel-free” representation from the company’s website between Nov. 20, 2021, and Jan. 9, 2022, according to the Paparazzi class action. However, many consumers had already purchased the jewelry with the belief that it was free of the metals.

A jewelry maker will use lead in its products to make them “more stable, brighten the paint or soften the plastic,” according to the Paparazzi class action.

Toxic Lead In Paparazzi Jewelry Endangers Consumers’ Health, Class Action Claims

Hollins argues lead is “toxic” and can lead to adverse health effects such as anemia, organ failure and learning disabilities.

Had consumers known Paparazzi’s jewelry products contained toxic heavy metals such as lead and nickel, Hollins claims, they would have neither purchased nor consumed them.

In addition to lead and nickel, Hollins claims Paparazzi’s jewelry products also contain toxic heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium and antimony.

Hollins claims Paparazzi is guilty of unjust enrichment and negligence and in violation of strict product liability and New York General Business Law

He wants to represent a nationwide class and New York subclass of consumers who have purchased a Paparazzi product when the company was making the allegedly false representations.

Plaintiff is demanding a jury trial and requesting declaratory relief along with compensatory, incidental, consequential and punitive or exemplary damages for herself and all class members.

A separate class action lawsuit was filed against Jared the Galleria of Jewelry owner Sterling Jewelers last year over claims the company inflates the weight of its diamonds

  1. Pamela White says:

I started buying Paparazzi Jewelry from my daughter-in-law when she started selling it a couple of years ago. Then from a very close friend, because of the claim of being free of nickel and lead. I am allergic to nickel, it causes swelling, pus and soreness especially in my ear piercings. I couldn’t understand why my ears were still breaking out like that.

  2. Maura Ruf says:

I was a Paparazzi consultant for a couple of years and purchased several thousands of dollars in jewelry. I quit in the end of 2021. I still have thousands of pieces of jewelry. I was going to try and sell it, but based on recent claims, I just want to throw it all away. How do I become part of the class action lawsuit?

  3. Justine Arlotta says:

    Hello,
I was a paparazzi consultant for several years & now have thousands of pieces of jewelry that I had purchased when I was still a consultant & am now afraid to keep selling it to people to try to replenish some of my costs. How do I go about becoming a part of this class action lawsuit?

  4. Desiree Benzie says:

I was a consultant and a customer. I purchased 100.00’s of dollars in the jewelry. I have developed psoriasis and skin irrationally as well as rashes. I stopped wearing paparazzi as a result. Please add me to this class action lawsuit against paparazzi.

  5. BernadetteNiebuhr says:

I’ve bought so much of paparazzi jewelry! I’m so disappointed, the whole reason I bought so much was because of the lead & nickel free. This is so frustrating!

  6. Frankie Tortonesi says:

Is it too late to be added to the list for the paparazzi Jewelry class action lawsuit? I have purchased a few pieces and now I am afraid to wear it. Should I throw it away in a Bio Hazard container?
Please let me know. Thank you

I have a wall full of this toxic stuff and need to dispose of it. But how? Please add me to the list of plaintiffs.

  7. Marie Gwin says:

Yes please, I would like to be informed of this lawsuit outcome as well. I have had jewelry from them that wasn’t even worn yet but out of the packaging and it turned to a rustic color and smelled stranged like car parts or rust clay dirt.

  8. Khara Joy Moreno Ramirez says:

I used to purchase Paparazzi jewelry from a gal I know beginning in 2017 being mislead that it had zero toxins. I thought the itching and green was just because it was cheap and I do have sensitive skin sometimes but that’s not usually with jewelry usually with skin care products.

    1. Khara Joy Moreno Ramirez says:

Oh I also should add I would like to be included in this class action lawsuit.

  9. Frances D Garrison says:

Please add me to the law suit.

  10. Frances D Garrison says:

I was a paparazzi consultant, bought over 10,000 pieces of jewelry and wore this jewelry. I like all other consultants and customers were lied to about the jewelry being lead and nickel free.
