JELD-WEN & Masonite Interior Molded Doors $19.5M Antitrust Class Action Settlement

  • JELD-WEN Inc and Masonite Corp. have agreed to a $19.5 million settlement for consumers who purchased interior molded doors from a third-party re-seller such as The Home Depot.
  • The class action alleged the defendants had worked to artificially inflate interior molded door prices.
  • The Class Period includes purchases made between March 2014 and Sept. 4, 2020.
  • Class Members are indirect purchasers from 21 states, including Arizona, California, Florida, and New York.
  • The minimum payment for each valid claim is estimated to be $25. 
  • Class Members can claim up to three doors with no proof of purchase. Claims with proof of purchase have no limit!

Claim deadline is June 25, 2021!


Sprint Phone Lease Plans Trap Customers in Endless Contracts, Class Action Alleges

  • A class action alleges Sprint tricks customers into phone lease agreements that trap them into paying much more than their devices are worth.
  • The plaintiffs claim customers participating in the Sprint Flex Lease Agreement program end up paying significantly more than the value of the device because of Sprint’s ongoing monthly charges after the lease ends.
  • According to the complaint, in some cases consumers have been forced to make additional payments at the end of the initial lease term in order to own their devices or are unable to cancel the program when the lease term is up.
  • The plaintiffs seek to represent a nationwide class of anyone who purchased or leased one or more devices under the Sprint Flex Lease Program.

Strawberries Are the Missing Ingredient in Kashi’s Strawberry Breakfast Bars, Class Action Claims

  • Class action alleges health snack maker Kashi is shorting customers on strawberries in its Ripe Strawberry Soft Baked Breakfast Bars.
  • The plaintiff claims while the front label of the package includes the words “Ripe Strawberry” and “Made with Wildflower Honey,” the ingredient list tells a different story.
  • The class action asserts that the bars are mostly made from pears and apples and actually contain more sugar than honey, which is misleading for consumers
  • The class action argues it would not be expensive for Kashi to increase the amount of strawberries in each bar, given their availability and pricing.

Snapchat, YOLO, LMK, Failed to Protect Children from Online Bullying, Class Action Claims

  • A recent class action alleges social media apps Snapchat, YOLO, and LMK fail to safeguard children from cyberbullying, resulting in millions of users being harmed every day.
  • The plaintiffs claim the social platforms violated consumer protection laws in creating “inherently dangerous and defective” apps for teens and make false promises about protection enforcement. 
  • The class action asserts it has been known for years that anonymous messaging apps can cause teenagers harm and the app developers should have foreseen the potential harm.
  • Class action seeks to represent a nationwide class and is asking that some of the apps be discontinued and banned from the market until the apps can provide proof of safeguards that have been implemented.

Costco Hit With Class Action Over Car Battery Warranty Claims

  • A class action lawsuit accuses Costco of deceiving consumers for years with its supposed free car battery replacement warranty.  
  • The plaintiff claims he purchased an Interstate battery with a 36-month warranty based on Costco’s claims of a free replacement; however, when his battery failed, Costco instead refunded his original purchase price and then charged him for a new, more expensive car battery.
  • According to the class action, Costco’s advertised free replacement warranty for Interstate batteries is not free at all, but costs consumers the increased price of the replacement batteries the retailer requires consumers to purchase.
  • The plaintiff seeks to represent consumers throughout the United States who purchased an Interstate car battery from Costco with a free battery replacement warranty and has asked for a court order stopping the allegedly deceptive car battery warranty claims.
