Nestle Purina PetCare Company and Waggin’ Train LLC have agreed to settle three class action lawsuits alleging Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch dog treats imported from or containing ingredients from China were defective and caused some pets to become sick and/or die after they consumed the products. If you purchased or your pet consumed Waggin’ Train or Canyon Creek Ranch dog treat products, you could be entitled to benefits from the class action settlement.
The plaintiffs in the dog treat class action lawsuits blamed the nation’s largest manufacturers of jerky treats for the illness and death of more than 1,000 pets.
Nestle and Waggin’ Train deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the dog treat class action lawsuits to avoid the cost and expense of trial. Under the terms of the proposed dog treat settlement, the defendants have agreed to create a $6.5 million settlement fund to reimburse eligible Class Members for reasonable economic damages incurred as a result of their pet’s consumption of the dog treat products. The companies have also agreed to change some of their policies related to the ingredients and labeling used for its dog treat products.
UPDATE: An appeal to the dog treat class action settlement was dismissed on Dec. 10, 2015, meaning that checks may soon be mailed to Class Members who filed valid claims.
UPDATE 2: On Mar. 21, 2016, Top Class Actions readers started receiving checks in the mail from this class action settlement worth as much as $300.

what a sick joke i got 17 bucks for poison dog treats that killed my minni pin ….wow ps my cat won`t eat dry cat food no more .after she got sick from it ….i bet thats made in china too and no good …
Really upset with this settlement. 75.70 in GA. Really? We paid $1300 for her, and then with Emergency vet bills, 3 days of dialysis to try to fix her failing kidneys. Only to have to put her down to end her suffering. 75.70 is a joke for restitution. We submitted all documentation. Thanks a lot
Received check in TX today. $122.33
Something needs to be done to heffler group for ripping me off!!!!!
Got $72.97 on 3/21/16 in GA.
Two of my babies died and I sent in vet receipts, cremation receipts, statements from vet and witnesses, and my older dog who never eats anything except people food is still here he was their daddy and for two expensive and very loved family members who died needlessly, the amount was a slap in the face. They should have paid at least double. I call bs!
Thank you Ann, just more to take off my list
admirable for sure but Nestle that owns Purina is the largest food company on the planet they own everything from Lean Cuisine to Nestle Crunch bottled water yogurt DiGiorno Pizza more than 2,000 brands this settlement was a drop in the bucket for them
Boycott these, I know we will just to honor our two babies we are still mourning! Let’s all ban together and make them lose money like we lost our fur babies!
what a f****** joke. should not have even bothered. 10.98 seriously! will research all products they have a name with and boycott all. will advise all to do the same. sooooo angry.
received 2 checks today-myself & spouse. One for $1528 & 2850. Vet bills over 6k so pleased we at least got something. Still does not bring back our beloved pets…what a horrible company… they should go out of business & fined a billion dollars
Why the hell are you complainin that is more than half of us got …all I got was a few hundred from two sick dogs and one that died
