UPDATE:
- On Feb. 13, 2019, a $58 million settlement was reached to resolve class action allegations that All Nippon Airways engaged in a price-fixing scheme on transpacific flights.
A near $50 million Transpacific Airlines class action settlement has been expanded to include four more airlines.
If you purchased a plane ticket between Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 1, 2016 that included a flight that started in the United States and flew to Asia or Oceania, you may benefit from the Transpacific Airlines class action settlement.
The Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit alleged that dozens of airlines entered into a price-fixing scheme affecting consumers who wished to fly between the U.S. and Asia or Oceania. Originally, the plaintiffs claimed that the airlines also fixed prices for flights for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
In 2015, eight defendant airlines agreed to pay nearly $40 million to end the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit, including Air France, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Airlines.
Recently, Air New Zealand Limited, China Airlines Ltd., EVA Airways Corporation, and Philippine Airlines Inc. have agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit. In total, they have agreed to pay $49.9 million, with EVA agreeing to pay $21 million and China Airlines paying $19.5 million to end the litigation.
One airline, All Nippon Airways, has not yet agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit.
The Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit alleged that the airlines conspired to hike airfare, as well as surcharges, on these international flights as a way to artificially inflate the prices as well as their profits.
The additional four airlines that agreed to settle the Transpacific Airline antitrust class action lawsuit do not admit any liability under the terms of the settlement.
The deadline for Class Members to opt out or exclude themselves from the settlement is Aug. 30, 2018.
Who’s Eligible
Class Members include those who purchased flights from Air New Zealand Limited, China Airlines Ltd., EVA Airways Corporation, or Philippine Airlines Inc. from Jan. 1, 2000 and Dec. 1, 2016. The flights must have included a segment that originated in the U.S. and flew to Asia or Oceania.

Do any of you fine folks know how long they have to distribute settlement after the order to distribute is signed (hopefully!) February 11th?
Why Japan Fuel Surcharge and Satogean is paying so much more than other category? Does anyone remember that being on one of the category to pick when we filled out the claim form? I don’t really remember fill that one out.
I wonder does anyone have tickets under there in the paper they sent out ??
I am sure there is. I don’t have it under mine. Mine is blank for the last two.
Yes, I have tickets for both.
The motion to distribute was filed on Jan 4 and here are the pro rata per ticket amount for the initial distribution:
JAL $ 3.5954
Air France/Sing/Vietnam $ 1.4958
Malaysian Air $ 0.1315
Thai Air $ 5.3870
Cathay/Qantas $ 5.0037
ANZ $ 0.0482
EVA/China Air $ 20.7191
PAL $ 1.0847
Settlement Class IIII $ 2.5098
Japan FUEL SURCHARGE $ 719.6601
Satogaen $ 399.3680
How do I figure out my payout?? Ty
Multiply the number of flights u were approved of in each group/airline by the corresponding dollar amounts.
Chris,
I am having the same issue trying to under my amount of payment can you please give an example of what it should look like thank you in advance for your help
Example:
(PAL airline) 1 trip times $1.0847 = $1.08
(Japan fuel surcharge) 1 trip times $791.6601 = $791.66
Multiply the number of trips by the ticket amounts listed in the court documents or the above list for each airline.
HELP lost paper but I have 4 all down inthe letter sent….HOW MUCH?? Don’t be rude David
Thank you Chris looks like everyone is getting a nice check soon.
Japan airlines settlement is paying $719. per ticket, if I’m reading this right. so if you have 12 tickets you will get $8628. for just that one set of tickets if you have JAL tickets then it would be $43.14 for 12 tickets Eva air would be $248.62 for 12 tickets. but don’t forget that the total amount of initial distribution is less than the amount of settlement funds available so there will be leftover money
The payout chart is confusing me. So if a person has 100tix for ANZ 100tix for EVA 100tix for PAL and 100tix and 100 tix for Class III how much would the pay out be possibly? If you don’t mind me asking.
Hello I have 4x for each listed on the paper they sent out..Can someone do the math for me..Thanks
Really ? you just said that?
David, you read my mind.
?
why arent you able to do match? use a calculator
WHERE DID U GET THESE FIGURES I THOUGHT JUST$8.50 PER TICKET
Pls tell me where are you getting these figures?
There is a court date for February 10 concerning to motion to distribute. If it is approved they have 90 days to distribute… I have never in my life seem something be drawn out for so long. it will be summer before we see checks…if then. its ridiculous.
I can’t believe this is gonna take a year after the approval letters were sent makes no sense
No Christmas present for us this year! – Hopefully by July 4th we get the payout from this TransPacific case distributed to us all..
THIS RUST CONSULTING IS SOOOO SLOW OF ALL THE ADMN
How were you ever banking on a lawsuit that you didn’t even know exist 2 years ago, didn’t start didn’t even know you were violated and claim a bad Christmas because of it?? oMFG
People you really online asking others to do your math homework for you? REALLY? Now I understand how people can follow other ignorant people! Makes total sense now!
I was told in email that they had to Motion for Disbursement in December.
Its December and no update. UGHHHH
I got this from class council today
I expect distribution in 3-4 months provided that everything goes smoothly from here on out. Keep checking the website for updates, or you can contact the claims administrator for more information. Claim values depend on when the claim was made and what airlines were flown, when the ticket was issued and where you traveled, and whether the trip originated in the US or not. So I can’t really comment on any specific case.
3-4 months – wow. that is disappointing
Thank you for the update.
Have anyone heard anything, what going on?
I was thinking the same thing! Today marks 3 months and still no checks has been mail-out. Top Class Action, can you give us a update.? Thanks
