Sekure Merchant Solutions has agreed to pay $6.25 million to consumers who received an unwanted telemarketing phone call from the payment processing company in violation of federal law.

If you were contacted on your cell phone by Sekure between July 26, 2013 and Feb. 1, 2018, you could get $30 from this class action settlement.

Plaintiff Michael Kaiser-Nyman filed the Sekure class action lawsuit over claims that the company placed unsolicited telemarketing calls to consumers in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the Sekure TCPA class action settlement, Kaiser-Nyman’s phone number is listed on the National Do Not Call Registry yet he received “high-pressured sales pitch” phone calls from the defendant despite never giving his consent or ever doing business with the company.

The plaintiff says not only were the calls obnoxious and frustrating, but Class Members experienced actual harm by these unwanted telemarketing phone calls.

“Plaintiff and the other call recipients were harmed by these calls. They were temporarily deprived of legitimate use of their phones because the phone line was tied up, they were charged for the calls, and their privacy was improperly invaded,” the Sekure class action lawsuit states.

In addition to paying $6.25 million, Sekure has also agreed to comply with the TCPA as part of the class action settlement agreement.

Class Members who want to object to or be excluded from the Sekure Merchant Solutions class action settlement must do so by Nov. 30, 2018.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members include anyone who received a robocall on their cell phone from Sekure Merchant Solutions between July 26, 2013 and Feb. 1, 2018.

I am on the do not call list and I frequently get robot allspice from someone about credit card debt. I spoke to someone whom said they’didn’t remove my number, obviously they didn’t, so now I don’t answer calls from anyone I don’t know. I get them on my home phone number from Apple, Inc. and this credit card debt company. I contacted Apple and they said it was a scam.
