Owners of Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 vehicles may be eligible to recover reimbursement and other benefits related to white paint peeling.
The settlement benefits individuals who purchased any white-painted Nissan Rogue produced between Jan. 11, 2013 and April 23, 2013, or any white-painted INFINITI QX56 produced between Nov. 20, 2009 and Dec. 12, 2012.
Plaintiffs in the Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 class action lawsuit claimed Nissan painted their white vehicles with defective paint that resulted in peeling. Allegedly, Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 owners were forced to pay out-of-pocket to repaint their vehicles when the white paint faded and then peeled.
The Nissan Rogue class action lawsuit argued that the plaintiffs and other vehicle owners would not have purchased the cars if they had known the paint would need to be replaced.
“Unlike tires, batteries, and engine oil, which need regular replacement, in modern vehicles, particularly luxury vehicles, automobile paint is expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle, such that, absent an accident, a vehicle owner reasonably would not expect to have to spend thousands of dollars to have their vehicle stripped and repainted during the ownership of the car,” the Nissan class action lawsuit alleged.
Nissan has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve the claims against them in a Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 class action settlement.
Under the terms of the deal, Class Members will have repainting costs covered under a four-year extended warranty. If Class Members deal with paint peeling on their vehicles and bring their vehicle to an authorized dealer, they will have some of their repaint costs covered by the defendant.
For the first two years of the warranty, 90% of repaint costs will be covered. For the final two years, 70% of repaint costs will be covered.
The settlement deal allows vehicle owners to recover reimbursement for any repainting they paid for in connection to their Nissan Rogue or INFINITI QX56 vehicles. This includes the costs of repainting the vehicle along with related expenses such as rental car fees.
Both warranty coverage and reimbursement payments are capped at $400 for Nissan Rogue repaints and $600 for INFINITI QX56 repaints.
In order to receive reimbursement from the Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 class action settlement, Class Members must file a claim by Jan. 10, 2021. There are separate reimbursement pages for eligible owners of Nissan and INFINITI vehicles. Claim forms are also available on the settlement website to be printed and mailed to the settlement administrator.
Class Members had until Nov. 29, 2019, to object to the settlement or exclude themselves. The final approval hearing for the Nissan Rogue and INFINITI QX56 class action settlement was held Dec. 19, 2019.

34 thoughts onNissan Rogue, INFINITI QX56 White Paint Class Action Settlement
Did anyone get a check yet?
My 2020 QX50 is starting to peel. Dealer is telling me they are rock chips. Is anyone having the same issue? My paint is a pearl color.
Question why on those 2 because others have had the same issue?
Agreed, and this issue goes back further than 2009. My 2006 pathfinder has the same problem with the white paint peeling away from the windshield frame area and hood.
I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue, yes its white, i had to have it painted a few years ago because it was looking like a cow!!! However at the time, had NO CLUE a law suit would come about and cannot find my receipt or paperwork on paint job ANYWHERE!! Due to covid, the company that painted the car, has since closed down. Anything else i can do to take part in claim?
I think the cap amount in this is incorrect cause I was quoted $13,000 for my repaint on my white QX-56. I would have to come up with 30% of that. The car is only worth $10,000 in good condition. Why wouldn’t I put more money into it and be out even more. Oh yeah did I mention, it’s all irrelevant cause my “4 years” was up in May. I literally don’t see the point in the settlement cause it benefits no one unless they already had it repainted at their own cost.
I have a 2013 Nissan Versa the paint job is cheap it’s literally washing away.
I don’t know what’s next for my car whether it would be rust or sunspots Because the paint job is so cheap after it rains I can Literally touch my paint and my fingers are solid white.
I have a 2016 versa note and I’m still making payments and not only is my paint peeling it’s rusting. Who is responsible for my car
I am part of the Nissan Rogue peeling paint settlement. I do not feel nor understand why we are responsible to pay any part of the repaint cost!! I did not make the choice to use garbage paint on the car and if I had known it was going to all peel off, I certainly wouldn’t have bought it! Why isn’t there a class action suit for people like me that don’t believe we should have to pay anything??
Even apart from the percentages, the maximum warranty coverage of $400 or $600 is ridiculous. The settlement says Nissan will cover 90% of the costs in the first two years, but caps their payment at $600?? Did I read that right? If so, that means your paint job has to cost, in total, no more than $666 (how fitting), or else you won’t be getting 90% coverage. Where in America can you get any car, much less a newer/luxury vehicle, completely stripped and repainted in a quality manner for $600??
I think the lawyers did not represent the class well, if this is the case. Too bad an Objector didn’t or couldn’t convince the judge that the settlement, which I’m sure gave class counsel a boatload of fees, was not in the best interest of the entire class.
You’re completely correct. You can’t even buy enough spray paint to cover a car properly for four hundred dollars. Sad…and the lawyers should be ashamed of themselves.
I have a 2018 white frontier that the paint has started peeling off the top of the truck and they say they can’t do anything about it.
What if you bought it used and paint is pealing. 2019
