UPDATE:
- Top Class Actions viewers reported this settlement paying out $78.92 as of Sept. 3, 2021.
- Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got paid.
Michigan residents who subscribed to Field & Stream, Working Mother, Yachting and other magazines may be entitled to benefits from a $2.15 million class action settlement.
Class Members include Michigan residents who subscribed to Bonnier Corporation publications, including Boating, Cruising World, Field & Stream, Flying, Marlin, Outdoor Life, Popular Science, Sailing World, Saltwater Sportsman, Saveur, Scuba Diving, Sport Diver, Sport Fishing, Wakeboarding, Waterski, Working Mother, and Yachting magazines. The subscriptions must have occurred between July 28, 2010 and June 25, 2019.
A class action lawsuit claimed that Bonnier collected and sold private information about its magazine subscribers in violation of the state’s Video Rental Privacy Act.
According to the Field & Stream magazine class action, Michigan residents are afforded additional privacy rights when it comes to their book, film, and subscription preferences under state law.
Plaintiffs claimed that Bonnier compiles a database of subscribers’ names, addresses, and subscribing history without the consent or even notice to Michigan subscribers.
The Field & Stream class action lawsuit also accused Bonnier of profiting from the collection and sale of subscriber information — denying the plaintiff and other Michigan subscribers of the full value of their magazine subscriptions.
Bonnier did not admit any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $2.15 million to settle the Michigan Field & Stream, Working Mother magazines class action lawsuit.
In addition, Bonnier has agreed to change their business practices, allowing subscribers to opt out of the disclosure of their personal information.
Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Class Members will be able to receive between $43 and $86. To receive a cash payment, Class Members must submit a Claim Form online or via mail.
Class Members may also be able to obtain a code for a free year-long subscription. No Claim Form is necessary for Class Members who want a free subscription.
The deadline to opt out of or object to the Michigan Field & Stream, Working Mother magazines class action settlement is Aug. 26, 2019.

I got a check today of $78.92
$78.92
Something in the mail today
$78
From Pacer dated July 15, 2021 Case 2:16-cv-12799-DML-EAS ECF No. 100, PageID.1198 Filed 07/15/21 Page 2 of 2 ( looks like the settlement company was trying to get more money so it held up sending out payments to us.. Imagine that..) Looks like payments are finally on the way but no date given just says promptly. I didn’t copy all of the info from Pacer on this but you should get the general idea along with some legal jargon. Hope this helps…..
It is further ORDERED that the parties’ joint motion to authorize the distribution of
settlement funds (ECF No. 99) is GRANTED. Class counsel and the defendant and its related
parties must each pay a total of $28,33.333 to Angeion to cover the increased administration costs.
Angeion, in turn, must reduce its charges for administration services by $28,333.33 and commence
immediately the distribution of the settlement funds by sending payments to claimants in the
amount of $78.92, each. No costs of administration in excess of the previously-authorized
$100,000 may be taken from the settlement fund prior to the pro rata distribution of the fund.
It is further ORDERED that the parties and the claims administrator must PROCEED
PROMPTLY to complete the tasks set forth in the order of final approval and effectuate the
distribution to absent class members.
If it follows other cases it should be around the 90 day mark from the judgment date listed above July 15th.. This has taken forever so it will be worth it to get the payment…
I think this lawsuit is like a lot of others where by the time the checks are sent, we’ll each maybe get 25 cents! It’s been 15 months since the appeal was withdrawn, so the only thing I can think of that’s still holding up the payments is someone else filed an appeal. Like I said, at this point I’ve pretty much given up on ever receiving any funds.
Ok Top Class Actions .. This has been open for over a year and there have been no updates in that time from you.. Can you give us an update or has this been closed? Please advise !!!!
Its like this claim just feel off the earth. Do we have any updates on this at all ?
I got update on my claim by claims administrator and I suggest for you to do the same and find out if your claim is actually valid directly from the source instead of inquiring from others!
They combing out through lots of fraudulent claims as usual.
Update to case :
NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL OF MOTION
COMES NOW, Rebecca Friske, by and through her attorneys, and gives
notice of withdrawal of Motion for Appeal Bond (Docket #84), as it has been
rendered moot by dismissal of the appeal.
Dated: January 8, 2020
Lets see how long it will take to pay out this claim now ..
Any updates on this ?
