Details on how to file a claim for the Louis Vuitton class action settlement have finally arrived. If you used a credit card to make a purchase from a California Louis Vuitton retail store between 2010 and 2013, you may be eligible to claim a free Merchandise Certificate from the class action settlement.
The proposed Louis Vuitton settlement will resolve a 2011 class action lawsuit (Morey v. Louis Vuitton North America) accusing Louis Vuitton of violating California law by requesting and recording personal identification information (address, ZIP code, phone number and/or e-mail address) in conjunction with certain credit card transactions.
Louis Vuitton denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to resolve the litigation by providing Merchandise Certificates as part of a class action lawsuit settlement. The amount of the Merchandise Certificate will depend on the number of Class Members who submit valid claims.
Class Members of the Louis Vuitton settlement include all persons who made a credit card purchase at a California Louis Vuitton store between May 20, 2010, and January 28, 2013, and were asked and provided their personal identification information in conjunction with the credit card transaction. This does not include providing this information for a special purpose such as for shipping, delivery, servicing or repairing of the purchased merchandise or for special orders or paid holds.
The only way to receive a Louis Vuitton Merchandise Certificate is to submit a valid Claim Form on or before November 13, 2013. Merchandise Certificates will only be mailed if the Court grants final approval to the class action lawsuit settlement.
A Final Fairness Hearing is scheduled for December 12, 2013. [UPDATE: A federal judge granted final approval to the Louis Vuitton class action settlement on Jan. 9, 2014. A total of 23,876 Merchandise Certificates worth $41 will be mailed to Class Members who filed valid claims sometime in the spring of 2014.]

I filed before the date as soon as it came out and when I called to check up on why I never had a response the person taking the calls at the law office stated I never submitted the form online which I did…that wasn’t fair at all and the law offices were very rude!

I purchased several bags from LV at Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, AZ where they asked for all my personal information as well. I took one purse to the LV location at North Park Mall in Dallas, TX, they repaired and sent back via FEDEX. I never received the purse, someone else signed for it, no one at my household. LV filed a claim and will not reimburse me for the cost of my lost purse. They have lied to me and given me nothing but the run around. I want to file a law suit against them.
I was on vacation in California and purchased a handbag. I live in Florida and since the certificate can only be used in the stores of California, does anybody have a solution besides making another trip to California?

I wish this act of forcing customers to provide the store with mandatory phone number and address and recording address on the driver’s licenses and having customers to provide their e-mail addresses for the purposes of sending promotional certificates which I have never seen but except my e-mail address got hacked twice, I have never seen anything good come out of this.act of providing Louis Vouiton extra personal infrmation. Thank you the court to put the STOP to these actions.
