A settlement has been reached in a Honda class action lawsuit, providing relief and repairs to the owners and lessees of 2015 Honda CR-V vehicles who experienced a vibration defect.

The award for the Honda CR-V settlement is not monetary. Instead, Honda has created a Customer Outreach Program to inform vehicle owners about the existence and availability of vehicle modifications.

The vehicle modifications were previously approved by Honda, but plaintiffs in the class action argued that the car dealership did not adequately communicate these remedies to consumers experiencing vibration issues in their 2015 Honda CR-V.

The settlement will also provide regular reminders about warranty coverage regarding the vehicle modifications and about settlement Class Members’ rights.

Although the settlement is not monetary, payment amounts will be negotiated for class counsel and class representative awards. Class counsel attorneys’ fees and litigation expenses have yet to be negotiated. Class Representatives may be eligible for a cash reward based on their experiences.

Plaintiffs who submitted their vehicles for testing and inspection are eligible for a $4,000 cash reward. Plaintiffs who did not submit their vehicles for testing and inspection are eligible for a $2,500 cash reward.

The Honda CR-V class action lawsuit was originally filed in May 2015, alleging that the a defect in the vehicles’ engines cause vibrating “to the point of nausea.”

In October 2015, Honda motioned to consolidate the class action with similar suits. Honda and a group of plaintiffs argued that the claims should be consolidated in a California federal court, while another group of plaintiffs argued for consolidation in Ohio federal court.

The latter group won the debate and, in March 2016, the class action was consolidated in Ohio federal court.

Class Members are not required to submit any Claim Form in order to participate in the settlement. The exclusion and objection date was Aug. 24, 2018 and the final approval hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2018.

    I have a 2014 that vibrates too!

  2. James says:

I own a 2012 and the vibration is in those too…so..good luck but this should not be limited to a particular year…it appears to be in all Honda’s. They told us it was a computer update issue, chared me 250.00 and it still vibrates.

    1. Jose lopez says:

I completely agree. I’ve changed all of my motor mounts and various other suspension stuff and my 1999 CR-V rattles very hard.

  3. Kyle says:

How about the 2016 model? The vibration issues still exist according to internet forums and videos. I intentionally bought the 16′ wanting to avoid this issues just to realize it still exist…

  4. Lauren Noon says:

I did purchase a 2015 CRV Honda used from Nardy Honda of Smithtown unknown to this until after my purchase and drove it to work… thankfully they did some what fix the vibration with a( kit) but I still have another really loud vibration when accelerating at a certain speed. Otherwise I do love my car just was not happy about being sold the car with no mention of this problem. I would like to be able to become part of this class action suit for any future issues that may arise from this. How do I go about it

  8. Cindy says:

I’ve been looking at these cars to buy. So what if I buy a pre owned Honda will this have been fixed or do we get the reimbursement?

    1. CHARLES R LANE says:

I recently purchased my CR-V with about 22000 miles from Brown Honda. How will know if my Honda is included in this class action?

    2. Cindy says:

      DONT BUY ONE!

  9. Mark says:

Don’t hold your breath folks. My son drove a 2011 Accord V6 that had a class action suit against faulty piston rings or as Honda supposedly settled on, excessive oil consumption. His engine blew at 90k. Over 90% of all work/maintenance was performed at certified Honda dealerships and we have records to prove that fact. Miraculously a bolt was in piston 4 ruining the engine. How did it get there? No one worked anywhere near a port of entry to a piston since a Honda service dealership did work two years prior. When he asked Royal Honda in New Orleans for the bolt they never provided or I feel, even attempted to retrieve the item said to be a bolt. One excuse after another and the end result, no “bolt” was ever removed. To top that exceptional customer service, Honda Corp of America refused to fix/replace the engine after 3 or more weeks of time and excuses. There’s more to the story but time is precious and Honda Corp is not worth it. My suggestion, get whatever they pay for fixed and head to your local Toyota dealership. Sorry Honda, my Oddessy, my brother’s Acura TLX as well as my son’s Accord will soon become a Toyota. Oh, btw my daughter is graduating as a doctor in May 2019 and again Toyota or Lexus is in her future, not Honda or Acura. Our family learned a valuable lesson at my son’s expense. Shame on you American Honda!!! Your alleged word is dissapointing to say the least and not worthy of hope in a very competitive market.

    1. Cindy says:

I bought a brand new 2014 and before I could even get it paid for, the ac compressor was faulty! Honda will NOT stand behind their vehicles!!! I will NEVER buy another Honda! My first and last!
