Geico agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it misinterpreted no-fault auto insurance, resulting in underpayment on certain claims.
The Geico auto claims underdpayment settlement benefits Florida healthcare providers who, during the class period, submitted a claim for reimbursement to a no-fault insurance policy of which Geico paid 80%, adding code “BA” to the explanations of benefits or review. Applicable policies include Florida motor vehicle insurance policies from Geico which contain a no-fault policy endorsement, indicated by endorsements such as “FLPIP (01-13),” “FLPIP (07-15)” and “FLPIP (01-18).”
Applicable class periods vary depending on which Geico insurance company issued the relevant policies:
- Geico Indemnity Co.: June 15, 2017, to May 31, 2022
- Geico General Insurance Co.: May 7, 2014, to May 31, 2022
- Geico Casualty Co.: June 15, 2017, to May 31, 2022
- Government Employees Insurance Co.: June 15, 2017, to May 31, 2022
Geico is an insurance company that provides insurance policies for drivers, business owners, homeowners and more. Some of Geico’s automotive insurance policies have personal injury protection (PIP) terms, which help pay for medical expenses resulting from a car accident.
Plaintiffs in the Geico class action lawsuit accused the insurer of misinterpreting the terms of its personal injury protection policies. As a result, Geico allegedly underpaid healthcare providers at a rate of 80% payment per claim. The PIP class action lawsuit argues providers should receive 100% payment for these claims.
One plaintiff allegedly provided chiropractic services to a Geico insured in 2016 after the woman was in a car crash. However, upon submitting the claim to Geico, the plaintiff claims only $140 of the $175 billed amount was paid.
According to the Geico PIP class action lawsuit, this payment policy violates Florida state law.
Geico hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve these claims with a class action lawsuit settlement.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a readjustment of their claims to reimburse the 20% of the claim originally unpaid by Geico.
Class members are also eligible for an enhanced payment of 10% of these payments and $9 per submitted claim form as additional benefits from the Geico insurance lawsuit settlement.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 15, 2022.
The final approval hearing for the Geico auto claims underdpayment settlement is scheduled for Dec. 2, 2022. Class members are not required to attend this hearing, but have until Nov. 2, 2022, to send their notice to appear if they do wish to speak to the court about the settlement.
In order to receive a claim from the Geico insurance lawsuit settlement, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 28, 2022. Multiple claim forms may be required if providers rendered treatment to different insureds from different accidents.

I hit a car as I was pulling in a parked place, as I was pulling in the parked driver opened her door not paying attention talking to the other person in the car. I hit her drivers side door. We called police made a report and I was blamed for the accident. But when I contacted Geico they told me she was at fault and I have it in writing of what they said. But out of nowhere My insurance triple and they change their mind stating that I am at fault now because her car had more damage than mine. Now remember I have in writing at first that it was her fault. I am still with Geico because no one else will take me because of the accident. Please Help!!
I was hit head on by a Geico insured that admitted it was his fault now they are trying to say it was my fault because there insured didn’t see me??? I have overwhelming amount of evidence I was not at fault. We are now in the middle of a dispute.

Hit a car from behind with proof that the driver of the other car left in good condition and got pictures of both vehicle having zero damages, then driver claims 18,500 in medical. However, geico whom I still have will cover none of the claims….is this situation for me?
This claim is for medical providers.

Now I know why my house insurance premium for the year, just went up 25 percent from last year through them.Thank you Mr.Buffett, I used to admire you.
Geico doesn’t underwrite homeowners policies, they broker them to other companies such as Travelers and Liberty Mutual etc. Those companies are the ones that rate the policies. So Geico auto claims are not in any way relevant to your homeowners pricing.
Geico auto took my money under false pretenses , defrauded me blankly manager of Geico together with adjuster attempted to steal half of my ins claim amount , paid bogus deceitful fraudulent claims In collusion with ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR I HAVE NEVER BEEN PAID ONE CENT ON THREE AUTO CLAIMS which I was lawfully and justly entitled to date. And these organized criminals bundled my auto ins with another organized thief and CON ::AMERICAN SECURITY INS CO aka “ASSURANCE “and they also took my money under false pretenses and together with GEICO lost my 2 million $ house plus contents and my beloved son. All of which I can unequivocally prove if you can find an honest judge plus cope with the inhumane, unconstitutional, criminal acts and results including having to live in a car etc.etc etc
