Dreamfields pasta class action settlement

The makers of Dreamfields pasta have agreed to a $7.9 million class action lawsuit settlement over claims they falsely advertised the low-carb pasta as containing fewer digestible carbohydrates and as having a lower glycemic index than traditional pasta. If you purchased Dreamfields pasta since 2004, you may be eligible to claim up to $29.85 or more from the Dreamfields class action settlement.

If approved, the Dreamfields pasta settlement will resolve a 2013 class action lawsuit accusing Post Holdings and Dakota Growers of making misleading statements about the “glycemic index” and “digestible carbohydrates” that were not scientifically supported.

The defendants deny the allegations but agreed in April 2014 to provide up to $5 million in cash refunds for consumers who purchased Dreamfields low-carb pasta to resolve the litigation and avoid the expense of going to trial. The Dreamfields class action settlement was preliminarily approved on May 9. Subject to final Court approval, the remaining $2.9 million will go toward attorneys’ fees, court costs, and incentive awards for the five plaintiffs in the Dreamfields class action lawsuit.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members of the Dreamfields pasta settlement include anyone who purchased Dreamfields pasta products in the United States for personal use and not for resale, with a label that referred to “glycemic index” or “digestible carbs,” between February 2004 and July 1, 2014.

If I do not cash the checks, where does the money go? I bought more than the 15 boxes during that those 11 years and am still buying it – though it has gotten harder to find. It is a good product when used as directed. I am type 1 diabetic and have tested carefully over the years to be sure it is better than the others.
