camel-cigarettes class action lawsuit

Were you an adult smoker who, as of Oct. 1, 2006, were assigned a registration number by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and collected and held Camel Cash “C-Notes”? If so, you could be a member of a class action lawsuit settlement.

A California federal judge has certified the class action lawsuit Sateriale, et al. v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., et al., which alleges that R.J. Reynolds (“RJR”) broke a contract with customers by slashing merchandise from its “Camel Cash” promotion.

RJR conducted the Camel Cash promotion from Oct. 1, 1991 through March 31, 2007. During that period RJR attached Camel Cash “C-Notes” to packages of Camel-brand filtered cigarettes. These certificates were redeemable by consumers for various items of merchandise listed in catalogs distributed by RJR after they filled out an enrollment form and registered for the Camel Cash program.

“Defendant stated that quantities of merchandise were ‘limited,'” however, as of Oct. 1, 2006, RJR “breached the contract by failing to provide any merchandise or catalogs,” plaintiffs allege in the class action lawsuit.

The Court has ruled that adult smokers entered into a contract with RJR by purchasing Camel cigarettes and saving the C-Notes. Plaintiffs are claiming breach of contract regarding the final six months of the Camel Cash program from Oct. 1, 2006 through March 30, 2007.

This needs to be expanded to all states… this is ridiculous….

  3. Vince de Leon Sr says:

How do I sign up? I’ve got hundreds of them camel cash dollars I was never able to use.

  4. Bob says:

I don’t even smoke, but I put ads in a local paper (before I used computers) looking to buy c-notes so that I could get Camel merchandise. I spent around $100 buying stacks from various people.

I still have an unopened poker cards/chips set in a tin with matching set of metal coasters in a tin.

But what I really wanted was a jacket! Never got the chance to get one because the merchandise ended shortly after I began buying the notes.

I think I threw them all out last year because I figured they’d never be worth anything and were just taking up space.

  5. Nathanael Lawrence says:

Up set when I saved so many then they stoped with no notice or email.

      1. LINDA DAVID says:

Thumbs up Michelle!! Im is AZ but I hv 3 daughters in Cali. They are not CaliTrash!

    2. Holly says:

I’m from Cali and the trash I’m seeing is you Sleepy Panda. You need to get yourself a life other than sitting in your room all day smoking, collecting thousands of c-notes and making ignorant comments. Lots of fun things to do in Cali other than being a hoarder in Maine…

  10. John Scribner says:

I live in Washington now, but I redeemed tens of thousands of camel cash c-notes from my California address. How can I notify them of my new address?
