Cablevision has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit stemming over allegations that the cable television provider violated state and federal law by requiring subscribers to rent a set-top box in order to receive services.
According to the class action lawsuit, Cablevision has a monopoly on the market and as a result, charges higher prices to cable customers.
The plaintiffs claim that Cablevision subscribers are not allowed to use set-top boxes from any other cable company.
Cablevision denies all accusations but agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to prevent the cost of further litigation.
Class Members who wish to object or be excluded from the terms of the Cablevision settlement must do so by Aug. 24, 2016.

The $40 credit showed up on my statement today.
I submitted the form before deadline but never received 40.00 credit.
I completed a claim but never received a check. How do I find out what happened?
I am a Cablevision customer for the last 10 years. I wish I would have know about this, I would have joined. I just filed a complaint with the FCC. They will not let me bring my own set top box so I dont have to spend $840 renting boxes. I have saved all my conversations with them where they give me the run around. Interesting that the relief states that most any cable box will work and they should be willing to offer people technical assistance to get them to work. They will only tell me that a TIVO works, but no other set top box. For HD they use both SA and Samsung boxes. I offered to buy unstolen third party boxes with the same model numbers yet they insist they wont active them. Do they need to be sued again? Should I sue them in small claims court?

Twc did same thing for years, wassup with that?
when will I be credited for this?
The form is not flexible. I want to submit service within a 10 year range but I didn’t have service through the entire range. There are some gaps and not totaling the amount calculated. I don’t want to submit and perjure.
Cable customer in Pocatello, Idaho during this time, and while in grad school. Needed cable but required added rental of box that i have now discovered was not a requirement.
