Consumers could benefit from a $60 million lawsuit settlement between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and AT&T resolving claims that the wireless provider engaged in data throttling — reducing the “unlimited” data speeds.

The settlement benefits former AT&T customers who had an unlimited data plan with the company at some point between Oct. 1, 2011, and June 30, 2015, who experienced data throttling and who have not received a bill credit or payment from AT&T regarding this matter.

According to the FTC, AT&T promised its customers “unlimited” data without qualification. In reality, the company allegedly throttled data speeds to the point that data was impossible to use.

AT&T is a mobile carrier that offers cellular and data services to customers.

In November 2019, AT&T agreed to resolve the FTC’s allegations with a $60 million lawsuit settlement

In 2020, AT&T distributed some funds to current and former customers who were affected by this issue. However, because AT&T was unable to reach every eligible customer, the FTC has opened the remaining $7 million of the settlement to provide partial refunds to consumers who haven’t received a refund from AT&T.

Refunds from the AT&T data-throttling lawsuit settlement will vary depending on a number of factors. No payment estimates are available at this time.

There is no deadline for exclusion or objection for this FTC settlement.

The settlement was finalized on Nov. 5, 2019.

In order to receive a refund, consumers must submit a valid claim form by May 18, 2023.

Unfortunately I still have AT&T and have for 20 years! Their service sucks, and getting worse by day. We just can’t afford to switch providers. And I can’t even file on this because it’s blocked from my AT&T phone 🥴

I need help with at&t. I purchased the fold 4 Samsung phone qt the end of August and send out my note 10 plus that was already a 1200 phone. I never got the 1000 trade .I have the usps label I sent to them and the confirmation that they got it. They tell me they have the phone and then tell me I never sent it. I asked to send me back my phone and 3 time now to there claim department and never get any answer or credit for the Samsung 10 plus they got off of me. I would have never got this phone and now out a phone that could have sold for that for deposit and stuck paying for this overpriced phone and also never even got the 250 gift card for switch. I’m stuck and don’t no what to do

I have been dealing with slow internet and each time I call they tell me that they are working on the tower and it would be all times of the day and night when I would call. Now they merge with T-Mobile and our internet is worse and when I called to see why they told me that there was no internet in my area?! I was dumbfounded and told them that I have been paying for it for almost a year now and they were just as confused. I think I may need some advise or ???

Within the last 10 years I’ve been dealing with someone or something trying to gain access to my accounts and trying relentlessly. My most perhaps significant one is my at&t number that i was told had a balance of 59,000,000.00 minute credit that was irreversible and yet I’ve never truly touch bc the account was unlimited.. when i tried doin quick count of what that would look like in dollar amounts using a basing calling card for minutes it’s a sum of about 5,000,000.00 u s dollars. Now i was in a state declared disaster area when my account expired and no towers around worked not did the electricity to update it make a call. So I want my money… They owe me something. That’s not all of it. Ive gone back n forth with these ppl for years with their sketchy rules. I need help with this in one.
