UPDATE:
- The AmeriGas pre-filled propane tanks class action settlement was granted final approval March 30, 2021.
- Let Top Class Actions know when you receive a check in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
Consumers who purchased AmeriGas or Blue Rhino pre-filled tanks may be eligible to claim up to $125 without proof of purchase as part of a $6.5 million settlement over the amount of propane in the tanks.
Those who are eligible to make a claim in this class action settlement include individuals who bought or exchanged one or more AmeriGas and/or Blue Rhino pre-filled propane tanks between Dec. 1, 2009, and Nov. 30, 2020.
Without proof of purchase, Class Members will be eligible for up to $2.50 per tank for up to 50 tanks, or $125. Class Members who provide proof of purchase are eligible for up to $5 per tank, with no limit on the number of tanks that can be claimed.
This class action settlement resolves claims that AmeriGas and Blue Rhino allegedly colluded together to lower the amount of propane in their pre-filled propane tanks from 17 pounds to 15 pounds without also reducing the price, resulting in inflated prices for propane customers.
While consumers who purchased either AmeriGas or Blue Rhino propane tanks may be affected by this settlement, it only resolves the claims made against AmeriGas; the Blue Rhino case is continuing in court.
AmeriGas has agreed to end the litigation with this settlement, but AmeriGas does not admit to any wrongdoing.
The settlement agreement established two Classes.
The Indirect Purchaser Settlement Class is made up of those who purchased AmeriGas or Blue Rhino propane tanks, other than a wholesale purchase directly from AmeriGas or Blue Rhino for resale, in Arizona, California, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah or West Virginia during the Class Period.
The Direct Purchaser Settlement Class is made up of consumers nationwide who purchased one of the propane tanks directly from AmeriGas or Blue Rhino via a vending machine at retailers or other locations, or paid one of the companies directly through a vending machine to exchange a previously purchased propane tank, other than a wholesale purchase intended for resale.
A fairness hearing is scheduled for March 31, 2021.
The deadline for filing a Claim Form, opting out or objecting to the settlement is March 8, 2021.

So, I called earlier this week and was told I was supposed to be getting the $241 payment and to wait until Aug. 2nd to see if it arrives. Based on comments here, I decided to call back. The new phone rep tried to tell me to just wait until the end of July…uh, its July 30th. I’m currently on hold after asking to be escalated to a supervisor. We’ll see what happens next.
So, had my query escalated. Shows payment was approved but not sent. Could take them three business days to get back to me. Next stop is calling the counsel for the class itself.
oh well. i called this morning too. not sure why they can’t just tell the truth instead of lying. my friend, who i told to file and who filed days ater me got her paper check. i got an email iou lol
I just got off the phone she said I was getting $94.28 and they said end of July and that they
had one more day. asked if she was working tomorrow.??? she didnt reply
i called just to be sure but as we all suspected they are closed on saturdays
Still haven’t received anything! August 3rd, I’m seeing people saying they received what the hell why haven’t I gotten anything?!
Same thing to me…
August 1st. Anyone get a digital payment?
Flood their email Claims@PropaneSettlement.com with complaints. I just sent one myself. If nothing by tomorrow, I’m looking up all the counsel firms listed above and emailing/calling them as well.
I did that and she said i was approved and would get it by Sat and if not call by monday well nothing still
I called and she said i can wait one more day until monday if i dont see digital payment
said the samething to me this morning
I’m Pretty sure the people who issue them won’t even be working tomorrow
and the lady was reading a script to me when i called i can tell because it was the same response as the email
What can we do about this If we have the email saying we would receive a digital payment but we never actually receive one. Could we sue them back
I received an e-mail on July 10, 2021, stating that I would receive a subsequent e-mail for my electronic payment. I haven’t received anything further other than the original e-mail below:
“Dear (NAME)
Beginning in July 2021, you will be sent an electronic payment for the claim (#XXXX) that you submitted in the class action settlement In re Pre-Filled Propane Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 2567 (W.D. Mo.), Master Case No. 14- 02567-MD-W-GAF.
When your payment is issued, you will receive an email notification from info@propanesettlement.digitalpayoutsmail.us that indicates your payment amount and allows you to instantaneously receive your payment via a variety of digital payment options. Your payment will be sent immediately; no app or registration will be required to receive funds
You can monitor https://www.propanesettlement.com for updates.”
Is anyone else facing the same issue?
i got that same email on the 9th. I’ve called them twice. both times they said i was approved for $241 and would get it by the end of July. i got nothing. my friend, who filed after me, got a paper check.
i did not get paid yet too and says i was approved for payment electronically
I got my digital payment today after 5pm cut and of course there was not a PayPal option just a virtual master card… check your email again the virtual mc was ready to use within minutes of choosing it.
BEWARE!!!!! Now they are losing your claim. They can pull my information up but now I’m being told I didn’t file a claim. I cannot find my oringal email! Damn
