StarKist and Lion Capital agreed to pay $3.875 million in a tuna settlement to resolve claims that they conspired to raise and fix the price of foodservice-size tuna products.
The settlement benefits individuals and entities that purchased Foodservice-Size Packaged Tuna Products (40 oz. or greater) directly from DOT Foods, Sysco, US Foods, Samโs Club, Walmart or Costco between June 1, 2011 and Dec. 31, 2016.
According to the tuna price-fixing class action lawsuit, StarKist and Lion Capital conspired with other tuna manufacturers to raise and fix the price of foodservice-size packaged tuna products. Purchasers claim that they were forced to pay a higher price for these products due to this alleged conspiracy.
StarKist is a canned tuna brand. Lion Capital is the former owner of Bumble Bee, another canned tuna brand.
The tuna companies havenโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay a combined $3.875 million to resolve the price-fixing class action lawsuit. StarKist will contribute $3.6 million to the settlement fund, while Lion will contribute $275,000.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a pro rata share of the net settlement fund based on the amount they paid in eligible purchases during the class period. Class members who received postcard notices showing their qualifying purchase values will receive payments based on these values. Class members who received postcard notices without qualifying purchase values will receive no payment from the settlement.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 30, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the tuna price-fixing settlement is scheduled for Nov. 15, 2024.
No claim form is required to benefit from the tuna settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive settlement payments.

This BELOW has happened to me more than once in the past 8 months. So I lost hundred up to 4 hundred dollars because of the person(s) that work for the Claim Settlement Administration or it is a TACTIC to eliminate people filing claims.
I filed a claim over what seems like a year ago for some items that I purchased. 1 day before the deadline I received a letter that I had to provide the receipts, and have the letter postmarked and mailed back. I received the letter in the mail post marked 7 days earlier, and the letter was dated 12 days earlier, However, I received the letter when I got home that was at 6pm, the Post Office closed at 5 pm and the Post Office is not close to where I live. This is So Unethical. I would of thought that it was nothing, but the same thing happened to my grandson. Therefore, I believe these are tactics to discourage people from filing claims. Has anyone else had this problem?????
