Top Class Actions viewers are getting paid!
Three class action settlements have paid out recently, and consumers are finding checks in the mail — some as part of a second distribution.
Great Value, Market Pantry Coffee Settlement Payments
TCA viewers have received PayPal deposits of $5 thanks to a class action settlement involving Great Value, Market Pantry, Signature Select, and other brands of ground coffee.
The class action lawsuit alleged the products were deceptively labeled. Though the labels indicated consumers could brew a certain amount of coffee from each package, the plaintiffs argued the number of cups was inflated.
The claim form deadline was Nov. 18, 2020.
The Great Value, Market Pantry Coffee Class Action Lawsuit was Becker, et al. v. Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA Inc., et al., Case No. 20PH-CV00569, in Phelps County Circuit Court, Missouri.
Sirius XM Do Not Call List Class Action Settlement Checks in the Mail
Class Members in the SiriusXM do-not-call list settlement have received a second distribution.
Viewers have reported receiving checks for up to $9.30.
A 2017 class action lawsuit had accused SiriusXM of placing telemarketing calls to consumers despite their numbers being on the National Do Not Call Registry, as well as the company’s internal do-not-call list, a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
SiriusXM agreed to pay $25 million to resolve the case in 2019.
Class Members were able to file a claim for either a cash payment or three months of free service.
The deadline to file a claim for cash was Oct. 8, 2019, and Dec. 22, 2019, for free service.
The SiriusXM Do Not Call List Class Action Lawsuit was Buchanan, et al. v. Sirius XM Radio Inc., Case No. 17-cv-00728-D, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Carnival Cruise, Royal Caribbean Telemarketing Class Action Settlement Checks in the Mail
Class Members in the Carnival Cruise and Royal Caribbean telemarketing class action settlement also have reported receiving a second cash distribution, of $2.50.
Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian cruise lines were accused of contracting with Resort Marketing Group to make telemarketing calls to consumers.
The plaintiff claimed none of the companies involved ever obtained his prior written consent to contact him in such a manner, violating the TCPA.
The claim form deadline was Nov. 3, 2017.
The Cruise Line Telemarketing Class Action Lawsuit was Philip Charvat, et al. v. Resort Marketing Group Inc., et al., Case No. 1:12-cv-05746, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
