What is a Settlement Administrator?

A Settlement Administrator is a third-party entity appointed by the court to handle the settlement claims process, including:

  • Distributing the Settlement Notice to Class Members.
  • Reviewing Claim Forms and approving or denying them.
  • Paying out awards for valid claims.

Most Settlement Administrators create a special, court-approved website to serve as a hub for information about the case, including court documents and updates about when payments will be distributed. Settlement Administrator websites also provide a way for Class Members to electronically file their Claim Forms.

Top Class Actions is not a Settlement Administrator, but we use their websites to help inform our viewers about how to file a claim for a class action settlement. We also use Settlement Administrator websites, in combination with other sources such as court documents, to provide updates about the status of a settlement, including when it has been approved and when claims are expected to pay out. If the Settlement Administrator has not updated its website, or if there have been no new court documents filed, we cannot provide updates.

Top Class Actions is a legal news source that reports on class action lawsuits, class action settlements, drug injury lawsuits, and product liability lawsuits. We do not process claims and we cannot advise you on the status of any individual class action settlement claim. You must contact the Settlement Administrator for any updates regarding your personal claim status, how to fill out a Claim Form, how to update your mailing address, or with any other questions about your claim.

I have been trying to get a refund from Neptune society for almost 2 yrs now. They charged my 92yr. old father $1900. For cremation when no other family member present and he’s a WW2 vet with his burial already provided. He had no need for services from Neptune. I’d like to know how to get him reimbursed as he’s on a fixed income and 94 now.

Who can we contact regarding a claims administrator who hasn’t paid anyone from the settlement?
I’m ready to report them to the BBB because of it.

    1. Top Class Actions says:

You can contact the settlement administrator through their corporate office. You can also contact class counsel with your concerns. You can find contact information for both of these via Google search. And yes, you always have the option of filing a claim with the BBB or your State’s Attorney General’s office.

The settlement was granted final approval on 9/13/17. There were not any appeals that we know of. It is not known how quickly claims will be paid, but the settlement website has been updated stating that payments are anticipated in Spring 2018.. This settlement is related to a previous settlement, and includes all class members from the previous settlement.
